How it happened: 1) I added a PCI-E SSD and booted Windows 10 inside the PCI-E SSD 2) I installed Intel Chipset Driver 3) Reboot the PC Then it happened. Now the EVGA X99 Micro2 is unable to boot with Debug code 79 eternally. No initial screen. No BIOS access. No HDD lamp blinking. This motherboard is always used for booting a Windows 7 UEFI before booting that foreign Win10.

Tried CMOS_CLS1 button. Still Code 79. Tried CPU + MB + RAM only. Still Code 79. ...... Tried everything except exchanging the motherboard. Still Code 79.

OK you're dual booting. Go into the BIOs and see what device is set for the system boot. It should be the windows boot manager. If not then set it for that. Otherwise if your boot device is the PCI-E then that should be your primary boot device. To fix this issue you might have to go through a Windows 10 only O/S rather than dual boot.

If the problem persists remove the PCI-E device and see if the PC boots and post back with the results. Also what slot is the PCI-E SSD inserted into?

Unable to enter the BIOS because the motherboard is DIED with Code 79. I also said I tried minimum boot even took off the VGA card but no clue. Please watch my words clearly before answering.

OK the manual says the Code 79 means that it's processing CSM initialization. But it eternally processing this before getting into the BIOS and recognizing any hardware.

OK insert only one stick of ram and your system drive. No other drives or devices except mouse and keyboard. Disconnect every single cable from the motherboard. Then reconnect every cable. See if the problem still occurs. How long have you had the motherboard and are you in Europe, Asia, or the USA?

Might want to ask evga to send you a replacement bios chip with the latest bios loaded to it to see if that might help fix your issue.

Already has a backup BIOS chip but don't know whether it's good or not. I'll try to replace it later. But I don't know why booting a CSM-off Win10 on a CSM-on Win7 motherboard can DESTROY the BIOS? rjohnson11 As I mentioned previously how old is the motherboard and when did you purchase it?
The warranty should be expired this year.

MelonGx Tried CMOS_CLS1 button. Still Code 79.
Try clearing CMOS using the second method described here if you have not already done so..Just a thought.

Ask EVGA for a new BIOs chip and see if that can resolve it. Otherwise if you are under warranty then RMA is the next step.

Resolved this issue by replacing backup BIOS chip. Thanks for everyone. BTW this motherboard still has 327d warranty.
