I according the website, box, etc. 2133 MHZ xmp profile are the stock settings for this memory and that was one of the few things things that actually worked with my FTW, the XMP profile set manually. I also tried them manually and the same thing happens. The Voltage remains at 1.5 too I checked in the Bios. I had bad CPU lottery before but I have always been able to get my memory to work at whatever speed it was designed to run at.

I have had the X79 for awhile now. I do a LOT of encoding etc. and it was the principle reason I got this platform. You should see my H264 encoding speed, it is TRULY amazing... As for gaming, the X79 should game at least as well as anything out there. I mean I have a 4820 Haswell E which I got for $249 at Microcenter, that is a tough price to beat for the performance I do get in spite of the current memory issue.

I may try to manually input the numbers again JUST To see what will happen yet again... Who knows, I COULD get lucky, I think I deserve it!

When I start my build next Monday, I think I am going to input my memory settings manually, seeing these reports on the XMP profile issues for some has me gun shy of trying that. Maybe once I have it running solid I might give it a shot...

Of course, Jacob could release a new bios between now and then that gets those corrected, would not hurt my feelings any. :)

Probably dumb question on my part, why not just input all the ram settings manually and not mess with an XMP profile?
I ask this more for my own education as well. That is what I did with my X-58 board and ram.

+1.  That's what I always do on any platform I've used.  Set mem timings & voltage to spec manually and very seldom an issue.  Sometimes the dimm voltage has needed to be higher than rated spec in order to run at rated clock speed.

Do you manually input every setting for memory? There are like 40 settings! Or just the typical ones? I don't even understand wth they mean beyond the top 6!

I run fine at 2133 xmp. My profile was never accurate until 2.07. 204 was actually set faster (yet it worked!!!) and forget 2.05.

When the heck are we getting updates for this board? Its been a long time now?

In the past, I typically manually input the timings listed that the ram was spec'd at, along with the voltage spec'd,  some sticks have this info printed on the sticks, if not you can get them from the memory specifications listed by the manufacturer for those specific modules. All the other timings that follow in the bios, I usually would leave alone.

As someone else mentioned, sometimes one needs to up the ram voltage slightly to get it running at it's rated speed solidly. The ram I will be putting in my new Dark build is rated for 1.50V, I will try starting there but anticipate I may need to bump up slightly, like 1.525-1.55v
