Hi guys, Wondering if a backplated evga vga would fit in the first pciex slot of the x79 DARK without hitting its I/O plate. Thanks.

The backplate isn't electrically conductive so touching both of those plates together won't affect anything, right ? Cause i'm going to do the same thing

Electrical conduction is not a problem. The only problem will eventually be the fitting: If VGA BACKPLATE touches against the I/O cover of the mobo we won't be able to fit it in slot. The only solution would be removing the I/O plate or the VGA BACKPLATE. I hope not. I hope EVGA had cared about mobo layout..... Waiting for an aswer, EVGA!

That slot is awfully close to the components above.

The Asus 780 DC2's integrated backplate does not fit with the shield. I had to remove it. :(

jayarvee The Asus 780 DC2's integrated backplate does not fit with the shield. I had to remove it. :( I have seen this. What the user did was this... They did "Not" screw the cover in on the bottom screw. They... - Screwed the screw in that would normally also hold the bottom (Closest to the PCI-e) of the cover, just screwed in normally as if there was no cover.
- They left the screw for the top of the cover out at this point.
- Assembled the components on the MOBO.
- With the power unplugged for caution ans safety... The user gently slid the cover between the bottom of the GPU and the face of the MOBO... Then slid the cover to the left putting it in it's natural position.
- Then they used the last/top screw to mount the cover and MOBO.
- Wallah!
YMMV

mlmadmax Mine fits fine as well little tight but nothing touches:) +1... That said... I REALLY like the fact that I can reach the PCI-e release without any tools on the top PCI-e expansion slot. Cannot say enough Giggity Giggity stuff about that =]

Couldn't the video card (if you were using a single video card) be installed in the other PCI-E 16 slot instead?

I have two EVGA Titans Hydro's with EVGA Back Plates and they fit fine in the two x16 slots. (Reference PM)

I have a watercool backplate on my EVGA TITAN SC. The I/O Shield doesn´t fit. The backplatte has a too big stand off.

I've got a pair of EK waterblocked and backplated EVGA 680's. The backplate of the top card comes into contact with the I/O cover quite considerably, managed to get the card seated though. Perhaps this is the reason that top card no longer works? Artifacts in the BIOS! Mhmmm.

My GTX 780 w/ EVGA backplate touches the I/O shield, but it seems to be working okay. I tried to check clearance with a piece of paper; it wouldn't fit.

I'm kind of surprised some people reporting they were able to actually fit a Card into the slot with a Backplate installed. As for me I clearly wasn't able as the Cover would protrude into the Backplate for more than 2mm which is not something you can just bend away... Especially not how rigid all the parts are. I've attached a Picture of how it looks after cutting out a chunk of metal from the Backplate.
