Fill in the BIOS template please.

Perhaps you can tell me specifically what setting you want to have a look at?  I'm not a fan of busting out a pen+paper and writing down my various bios settings, lol

I can tell you this.  I loaded defaults before flashing, and after flashing the only thing I have changed in the BIOS is set my ram to 1600, 7-9-7-24 1.5v and changed CPU vcore to 1.13v.

Well, if that's all you did, there is no need to fill the template. But that's what I do typically as well. So, it seems like a freak CPU. You should be happy!

One more experiment: You did not run realtemp and i7 turbo tool under load (like run Linx with MAX problem size) because your min/max temps there look about the same. Can you run the LinX load and see how the multi bounces around if at all.

Well, I just ran LinX with the maximum selectable problem size and under calculated multiplier the minimum and max are both 22.  Avg was between 21.998 and 22.003.

Did you compare 2M superpi calculation at 20x, 21x and 22x? Do the times scale down with CPU clock frequency going up linearly?

I can't do that test for ya.  I could do 20 and 22, but that's it.  If I choose 20 in the bios, it shows (Target frequency 133x20=2666), and if I choose 21, it shows (Target frequency 133x22=2933).  It is impossible for me to choose 21.

20x vs 22x will do fine. All we need to see is if the time taken falls linearly with clock rise. 3 datapoints will nail it but 2 will do just fine as well.

May be you can do one with 19x. Just a thought.

BTW: u can do this all within one boot using Eleet. Change the multi in Eleet and run superpi. That's all that is needed.

So in Eleet, the multis are: 23, 22, 22, 22.  If I change them, no matter what the selection, it jumps back to 23, 22, 22, 22.

Is the VT double pump affecting all X58 motherboards from eVGA or just the Classified? I'm looking to get the X58 Micro motherboard and I'd really hate to have to deal with this. Thanks.

Hello EVGA'ers.

I just upgraded BIOS to this 74 version.

Where can I go to learn about what all these new features like "Turbo Performance" is and etc...

(I had a super old version of BIOS prior)

Thanks, Shib

Does anyone know? I don't want to screw up my hard drives due to the double pump.

So are these BIOS any better than last ones?
and I wish EVGA stop focusing so much on the 980X. Really only like 5% people have that darn thing, yet every new BIOS has something about it.

What about the rest the 95% of us?

The 758 does for sure. Don't know about the micro's but I would assume so.

Where in the bios is the VT setting? I can't find it - been through it several times now...  I'm obviously missing something.

I'm also having 8GB out of 16GB not showing up in the bios. Windows 7 sees it, but says only 8GB is usable...  I purchased the X58 SLI (e757) specifically for use with VMs - and now I'm seeing the board has VT settings problems and loses memory???  very annoyed right now...

Its found under CPU Features.

As for RAM missing, there are tonnes of threads here. You need to find why YOUR ram is missing. It can be anything:

1. Bad CPU seating. Reseating the CPU solves it for many folks.
2. Low VTT/vDDR. A higher VTT and/or vDDR seems to help some.
3. Bad timings. Try different tRL values. A +2 seems to solve it for some!
4. Try different MCH Strap. DRAM Ratio seems to solve it for some!

I updated the BIOS on my 760 to the latest 74 about a week ago.  I have toasted 2 hard drives in that time, one of which was a brand new Black Caviar 1TB to replace the first one that failed ON THE SAME SATA PORT (3) !!!! ****?
Also, I can't get all 12Gb recognized, only 8Gb show up, no matter what I do with VTT, IOH Vcore, or MCH strap per some of the other threads on this issue.  I don't think it's fair for WD to RMA a new drive when it seems to be EVGA's fault on this.
I want to roll back my BIOS to an earlier version that doesn't kill drives.  Which one should I go back to?

Re:EVGA X58 Motherboards - BIOS 74 Released 2010/08/18 18:12:47 (permalink)
I'm using a 980X and using any multi above 25X forces turbo on and grays out the option to disable it in the cpu section of the bios. :( If I disable it using eleet in drops the multi down to 25 :( they still need to fix 980X issues.
