Alchemy1 Thanks for the response. I just built a WHS so it is all backed up...including the system drive, but I was just wondering. Dont worry though have updated my bios every time theres a new one available, and my raid0 array has never suffered under it.. :)

Follow-up to my earlier post: I have the memory divider set at 2:12 right now. If I leave "Turbo Performance" off, it uses the correct divider in Windows. If I turn "Turbo Performance" ON, it uses 2:10 in windows, even if the BIOS is still set to 2:12.

I just had to re-enable the onboard controller and the raid array popped back up with all of my data intact. Thanks for all of the replies. Like I said...I knew it was probably a stupid question...lol Maybe I'll get back to OC'ing my rig now before all this cold weather passes. I've been running at stock for a couple of months now.

fyi, I just uninstalled both the beta release as well as S22D cause I was getting a cold boot startup problem as well as a windows, slow, shutdown with these two bios installed. On a lark, I replaced them with the beta S222 bios, which I had been using and the problems went away.(knock on wood)

Hey Guys, I just had a brand new issue on the classy I never had before the new bios. 4gb, of my 6 was not showing. I did the memtest right off thinking I had a bad Dimm. Nope. Then I really got worried, and Called tech support in the WEE hours of the morning. He suggested that I re- flash to the previous bios that everything was working on. Low & behold, everything came back to normal as soon as I did that. So Heads up, the beta bios has something wierd going on in the IMC department. The Beta Bios worked well for serveral days. Don't know if it was my OCing that changed something that caused this. I went to default setting first, and it was still a no-go. Finally returned to normal operations after bumping back down to S22D. Oh well, it's a beta, so I didn't expect miracles.

It was actually dropping once channel and the rest of DRAM was posting at those timings, but alas no stability either way. I agree there is something screwy with the DRAM/IMC in this BIOS. I'm still using it but it's not stable.

Did I fall out of the loop or this bios reduced CPU temperatures? I'm not sure what BIOS I had before (prolly one of the older ones), this bios shows 10C-15C less on the readout panel and in software than before. There's now like 15C-13C difference between coretemp and what I see on display. I almost fell of the chair when I saw 15C on idle! I'm watercooling but's not like I have 50F ambient... and CPU is oc'ed to 4.2 with 1.35 at idle. Granted, speedstep is on but with exactly same settings and cooling system I consistently observed 30C CPU on idle with the old BIOS! Did this BIOS do something to reduce CPU heat? 'Cause that's what I'm seeing.

Anybody with the new BIOS can test Super Pi 1M? I have significant slower 1M run with the new BIOS (4.2 g using 15''), the old BIOS always give me 9''~10" at 4.2g.

I got 10sec@4.2 (SuperPI 1M) with this BIOS... software issue maybe? Or maybe you didn't completely duplicate your overclock (i.e., the RAM settings might be off)

'Cause that's what I'm seeing. The reading may have changed but i doubt the real/actual CPU temp has been reduced The CPU temp is read from a sensor just under the IHS in the middle of the CPU die once read its converted by the Super I/O chip, the conversion is dependent on the BIOS so if the BIOS is not calibrated properly you can see an innaccurate reading for CPU temp. Its best to go by your Core temps, have they changed? usually there should be a 5-10 degree C difference between Core temp and CPU temp since cores are an origin of heat and the get to the CPU temp sensor the heat needs to travel, it dissipates along the way (cools) so by the time it gets to the CPU temp sensor it should show a lower heat reading compared to the cores.

I'm going to have to flash back to an earlier BIOS. With this new one my memory only runs at a 2:10 ratio and a frequency of 663 mhz. I cannot get it to run at it's usual 2:12, 800 mhz. I don't know what the turbo mode thing does, but it doesn't seem to make any difference whether it's enabled or not. It also seems to run the CPU a couple of degrees warmer than earlier BIOS. I'm used to seeing 20-21 degrees on the readout of the ECP, but now, with the same room temp, it's running at 22-23 degrees at idle.

Exactly opposite to what I'm experiencing lol I think this BIOS being beta and all screwed up on a lot of accounts (like temp readout being off-base).

Thanks Davabled for your bios change log.I haven't updated bios for a while and if it wasn't for the saved change log I would be screwed. This beta bios has to be the worst bios ever released by EVGA.Using exact same voltages and timings my pc would not even boot to windows.Even with everything at defaults I got numerous blue screens.Using last certified bios now and everything seems good so far.
