how about the rest of your hardware? trust me it gets very expensive when you have to start rmaing stuff, i spent about 300 or so already on stuff I have rmaed. The only thing that was fast was my EVGA board... the rest going over a week now and on some rma's in the past it was a month+ until I got my replacements. Best option for you is to do the molex mod, sleave it, use heat shink and hide it. it wont look fugle... that is your best option, if there where better mod options Shamino/Peter the lead designer of the Classified would had done it...

Also for 300 bucks for a limited edition board that only 2000 got made on the planet still a good deal when those of us who purchased it brand new paid 500-600 dollars to get our hands on it after all was said and done shipping/custom fees and so on. But only a good deal if your willing to do the molex mod... so you can keep it..

Im glad many has done the MOLEX MOD and there are positive results from it. After reading the last few pages, btw thanks for wasting my time of the non-topic related posts (arguing), I still believe PCI-Ex 3.0 might be possible in the near future. If Nvidia and AMD are going to be producing cards that consume a great amount of watts, the molex pin in the board might be obsolete by then?  Just wondering how much of a push or relief in terms of wattage, the molex pin gives up to the GPUs or the 24pin? just wonderin, if someone knows please feel free to ilustrate.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

Well for me with the classified 3 its big enough for my gpus to run cooler and my 24 pin stays cool to the touch with the molex plugged in, if I unplug the molex the 24 pin on my classified 3 starts to warm up, also my voltages will fluxuate more than i want them to under load. The molex mod or a board with it pretty much takes care of this issue and really takes alot of stress off the 24pin's 12v pins.
Dejanh also shows this to be the case with the molex mod a page or three back on the 759 classified.

Yes but what does that have to do with the post? What someone is talking about is doing the molex mod without the molex but running the wires from the secondary 8pin for the cpu over to the 24 pin the grounds and the 12v's. The issue with that is that 8pin cpu connector plugged in is already supplying power to something else, and no telling what an interuption of voltages will do to the cpu/cpus overclock when having to help power the pcie lanes as well. /sigh

So whats the deal ?is this a real issue happening on a lot of boards or just a few?Is there anything official from EVGA on this?. I know I have done my share of overclocking and have ran my cards overvolted since I bought them and my connectors are not even warm.Furthermore I believe it is just a bad Idea modding a motherboard.I know that I would not want to be the one responsible for some guy doing something wrong and then having him and his family burn to death in the middle of the night.

EVGA does have an official statement which I believe is some where in this thread. It has happened to a few of us (how many is unclear) and it is said that only certain system configurations are affected. Your system with the e759 and 3 GTX 480s in SLI are certainly the configuration in which this has occured. I believe if you were going to have an issue it would be present by now so check your 24-pin plug and see. If it is clean you are probably safe.

actually a 759/760 Classified with 2 or more GTX 480's and select AMD/ATI gpus, the only official response we got is they are investigating it, then someone else was told its a 1-2% of thier customers and those who have had it happen are very vocal.

lol np man yeah if your working I can understand that fully. Plus its a friday since you have had no issues with your 759 do you mind quoting my post of everything I have plugged in and do the same with your system right below my post, would be nice to see the difference. Like seeing everything from fans, to accessories, extras, usb ports from keyboards/displays the works. Might help give us an idea. Also post how long you have been running your setup if you dont mind.
Actually i would like everyone with a 759/760 classified to do this post your specs like mine everything that uses power  you have plugged in, and how long you have been running your setup, also let us know if had issues or not with the 24 pin, or if you did the molex mod.

ummm a 769? oh found it and yes a 769 is a 760 with hc blocks on it, so yes you too can run into this issue if you have the right setup. EVGA it seems to have removed it from the support products pages... for manuals.
Do not try holding your breath for some official response on what setups cause it from EVGA btw, I guess a few members have emailed support and got no replys to their emails. Just look at m ysetup on page 1 if you have anything like it with a TON of stuff plugged in your a possible canidate...

Over the weekend I ran EVGA OC Scanner in Fullscreen mode with Unlock Power Draw enabled... my 24 pin connector was cool to the touch. I had load on both gpus as well.

Any other ways I can double check I don't have this problem? This was with overclocked GPUs too - about 900mhz core, 1900mhz memory.

I'm also not sure if it's a spike that causes this, a momemtary removal of (just for example ) one of the 6 pin 12V sources, would that double the draw on the slot, or shut down the system, this is what has me worried, If I don't know the cause, I can not plan for prevention. and if it is as rare as we ar being lead to belive, how do we know the added MOD, or additional molex has realy fixed it ?

Welp its pretty easy to know since they now have the extra molex connector on the new revision board and other brands have extra molex connectors on the MB as well for extra power for the graphics cards.

How much extra power does that 4 pin adapter actually allow?  It seems like that should only be about 75 Watts.  Is that really enough to fix it?

I have a 759 and my parts are mostly in my sig, but I have a Merc Stealth keyboard lit red, an extra 200mm fan on top of the HAF-X, a Killer 2100, a USB Hauppauge TV tuner, An Xbox 360 wireless adapter, Razer Mambe mouse with light turned off, Z5500 speakers plugged into the Digital output, a pair of Denon AH-D5000 head phones, and 2 x 120mm fans on my Megahalems.  I think that is it.  Oh the monitor is hooked in via DVI.  So far I have had zero issues and I looked at the pins on my 24 pin adapter to be sure.

( about 5 Amps, or 60 Watts )( split between two points 30 W Each)

Is there is any "Do not buy list" available for E759, especially video cards?   I'm having ati 4890 cross fire, so for my pc is a non-smoker?
and im running my video cards in stock and cpu 3.6

I'm about to buy a ati 5970, but now afraid it may be too much for my mb?

It takes a particular type of setup to cause the 24pin 12v to burn out, only mobo manufacturers can answer your question if your system could be slammed by this It takes a combination of 2x or more high power consumption gpus, with the right type of hardware combination. No company has come up to the plate to tell us what it is...

The thing with EVGA as shown on the molex mod by shamino on xtremesystems is they knew this possible thing could happen with the right setup/setups so basically got caught with their hands in the cookie jar. And when faced with the question well you get we are working on it, it only happens to 1-2% of the 759/760 owners, or you get fully ignored as some members have sent in emails asking about it already and its been almost two weeks no response.

So your options are if your in stepup date of your board get a classy3, or do the molex mod, or wait for something to happen if it does even happen noone can confirm if your system has a possibility of it happening at this point, or just buy a classified 3. That is about the best info I can give you on it tbh... read page1

The ATI 5XXX series should be fine since they are lower power consumption cards.

An ATI 5970 should be fine on your rig. You can go ahead and buy it.
