I recently got a EVGA SuperNOVA 1600 P+, 80+ Platinum 1600W from a friend and was wondering if i ran it on 115v would it still worK but only at about 1200 watts? I really only need about 1200 watts but since i received this psu for free would like to use it even if it's not at the 1600w

It should work absolutely fine. I use a 1600g2 on 120v all the time.

1600 watts is the maximum it can provide to your system. 1200W will be perfectly fine.

At 115v it should do 1600 watts just fine IF your home circuit can handle it (wire and electrical panel). So have a look at your panel and see if it uses a 20 amp circuit. Consult an electrician if unsure.

At 100v it should do close to 1400 watts without problem cause of the reduced voltage and reduced efficiency that comes with it.

The specs on that PSU shows that it can handle 115VAC to 240VAC. At those voltages you'll have access to the PSUs full wattage.

I think it will come down to how many amps are on that circuit (15 or 20).  20 should be no problem.

With 15 amps, you would need to know the specifics of the type of circuit breaker installed and if it can handle 80 or 100% load (NEC code).  If it's an 80% load breaker, your max draw would be 1440w before it trips.   So there could be an issue.  Keep in mind that other things plugged in (like monitors) will increase load. Also be mindful that many house receptacles are on a shared (non dedicated) lines.
