Hi all,

I just got another 1080 ti hydro copper and now have 2 in SLI. I have a EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 PS PSU. I am running into an issue after installing the 2nd card. Gaming, I have no issues but when I start folding, the machine restarts itself. If I run just one card at a time, I have no issues. If I can get past the initial "run" up to full power with both cards, it will run normally and fold all night. I am leaning towards a PSU issue but wanted to some input before I set up an RMA.

Thanks

Yep, sounds like it's a psu problem.

It has been a very long time since you have Folded, glad you are starting backup.
Before you started to Fold Overnight did you Disable SLI?
Are you using 4 Separate PCIe Power Cables 2 Each for Each Graphics Card?

I don't believe I should have to use 4 separate cables. I never have in the past and my rigs always ran fine. I have switch the PSU out for another and the issue gone. I can't remember the last time I had a bad PSU. As far as folding, I am usually looking for aliens (SETI).

Thanks Sajin for the solid support as usual!

No problem. Glad to hear switching out the psu fixed the issue.

Bro!! Aliens could have the cure for many diseases, Just need to find them via SETI!!!!
Interestingly enough, I placed the "defective" PSU back in the system and was going to set up an advanced RMA (I had to put the other PSU back in the machine I borrowed it from). It seems to be functioning normally now. I usually perform maintenance every few months if not monthly and I was able to give the PSU some extra attention since it was out of the system. So far so good!

Must have had some loose cables, or maybe the psu is just working at the moment.

I initially checked the cables when it first started happening but you know computers, could be anything... If it happens again, I'll simply RMA the unit.  :D
