Anyone from Canada, please help.

I have 4 questions:

1. Do I really need to ship to the USA and there is no Canada location to ship to?
2. If yes, what do I mention in shipping this product to California to not be held up by USA/Canada Customs on Border.
3. Just wondering what should I declare it as? Like a defective $15 item? Or full value (350 USD)?
4. Also, do I need to pay any customs/duty tax on the new Step-up product that EVGA will ship to Canada?

Shipping from Canada would cost me 50 dollars (1-week shipping option - lowest). Not sure if I need to pay EVGA more for shipping a new product?

    1) Yes, you have to ship the GPU to california.
    2) Not 100% sure, but afaik, they make you ship it as an RMA. So it shouldn't get stuck at the border.
    3) You want to declare the full value in case it get lost/damaged during shipping. If you declare $15, you'll only get $15 back if that happen.
    4) You will pay taxes on the full value of the GPU you are stepping up to. Customs fee is really hit or miss unfortunately. I've heard people not paying any and some people getting dinged.

You pay the standard 13% tax in Canada plus a $15 brokerage fee at the border, UPS charges you at the door upon delivery

Just went through this for a 3070 Ti. Make sure you insure the GPU you are sending back for the amount of what you listed on your invoice that you uploaded to EVGA. You should also have a commercial invoice along with your shipping label since it is crossing the border, just be honest and up front that it is an RMA. You will pay taxes and duties on the new card but no brokerage fees to UPS because the shipping method coming back to you is not UPS Ground. I ended up paying about $80 in taxes and duties on the 3070 Ti.

I do not agree, last time when I get the 50/50 promotion, my shipment was $267.47US, but Ups charged me cdn$110 for the tax and fee, in the tax list they charge the value base on the full item value. not what you paid for.

Seems like even though I went through this Step Up because of no GPU in the market, it is not worth for Canadians to use Step-Up Program. For 3080 FTW3 Ultra with cost 1000 USD with tax, and again approx 300 CAD for duty tax, and when you ship your old GPU with insurance CAD 60.

I didn’t have to pay UPS the brokerage fee. They are only supposed to charge you the brokerage fee if UPS Ground or Standard is used. Anything above that like UPS Worldwide Expedited is supposed to waive the brokerage fees.

I just found this thread... I'm stepping up to the 3090 from a 3080 12GB. I already paid 200 in taxes... I don't want to now pay over 300 more... that's not even nice at all...

I called customer service, and yes I'll have to pay full taxes on the card... (taxed twice essentially). I should have just sold here at a loss and bought the 3090 from a local retailer.

I already shipped my card in and paid the step-up price. I'll update if Canada dings me again (my friend didn't get dinged twice). I'll know next week when it arrives :(

I too am interested in seeing how this plays out. I just recently moved to Canada from the Middle East and I would previously order everything from the US, either directly or via a freight forwarder (Aramex, not sure if anyone has heard of them) who would charge by weight and 15% tax on the value of item which THEY determined by themselves, so it was hit or miss at times.
