Hey Everyone,

I just picked up an EVGA SC17 GTX1070 with G-Sync this past XMas sale.

After the EVGA splash screen at boot, it shows some screen artifacts. Here are some examples:
The picture below was after a fresh install of Windows 10, after Windows automatically grabbing the 382.05 Nvidia driver.

The picture below was after installing the Nvidia Graphics driver, 388.59. I also reverted back to 385.69 and it's still showing the same (or similar) artifact as below.
\

I've only had this laptop for about 5 days since this post.
Is anyone else having this issue?

Thanks!

*Note: These artifacts were also present upon receiving the computer and booting it up, before reinstalling Windows 10.

I'm having the same issue even after fresh install.

If a clean install of windows 10 using the media creation tool (not upgrade, a full clean install) doesn't work then you need to contact support.

Looks like you'll need to send it in for repair.

Nvidia driver 378.92 and below works. But no Battlefield 1 with this drivers. 382.05 showing little artifact.

Yup, I did a full clean install of Windows 10 Home 64-bit using the media creation tool (wiped all my drives). I then installed the latest drivers from Nvidia up to 388.59, which led to the second picture.

I contacted support earlier and they said that Nvidia released a new driver today (12/20/2017), 388.71. This supposedly resolves the issue relating to what I'm seeing in the pictures above.
When I updated from 388.59 to this new driver version, however, I'm still getting the same issue as the second picture.

I'll try to do another fresh install of Windows and install the latest driver to see if it'll help. I'll update this post on whether that was successful or not.

I can confirm that 382.05 is showing little artifact after EVGA splash because after a fresh install, Windows 10 automatically grabbed this particular version of the driver (if one wasn't already manually installed). Once I rebooted with this driver version, there was no artifact to be seen.

I'm just not sure if this could also be a hardware related issue.
    -------------------------
*UPDATE 12/21/2017: After doing another fresh install today, Windows grabbed again the 382.05 driver and after the EVGA splash screen, it is presenting the same display as in Picture 1.

After doing a fresh install of Windows 10 today and installing the 388.71 driver after running all of the Windows updates, the issue that looks like the second picture is still persistent.

Will have to contact support tomorrow morning.

Also, another interesting issue I found: After putting the computer to sleep for awhile (maybe 3+ hours), when trying to wake the computer up from sleep, the EVGA splash screen pops up, then goes to a black screen. I'll wait 3-5 minutes at this black screen and afterwards the computer will restart, instead of resuming from sleep. Not sure what's going on here.

Perhaps it is hibernating after 3 hours? since in power settings hibernation is set to 180min.

I have this exact same problem. After I try to power on the laptop after a power down or it goes to sleep by pressing the power button, the EVGA splash happens and then a black screen. I then hold down the power button to hard shut down. After I press the power button again, the EVGA splash happens and then I get the exact same screen glitch as the poster above with the same horizontal colors bands; however, the computer then boots into windows normally. This also began happening after I installed 388.59

You're correct! Hibernation in "power settings" is set to 180min.
I'm not sure why the computer restarted from hibernation though, but I'll keep a look out for any other kinds of anomalies. Thanks!

I had the exact same thing where, after trying to wake up the computer from sleep (or in this case as 'vistarshook' pointed out, most possibly hibernate since on my laptop, hibernate is set to default at 180 minutes. This is when it'll kick in once entering the sleep state and being inactive for 180 minutes), it'll go straight to a black screen, but nothing would show up for a couple of minutes.

You could try to wait a couple of minutes, and instead of pressing the power button to hard restart, try pressing some keys, like 'Enter' or the 'Spacebar' to try and bring up the Windows login screen. This worked for me on one occasion. On another occasion, it just got stuck on the black screen and restarted itself automatically.

You could also disable hibernate and see how that works for you.

Issue resolves after downgrading to 385.69. All drivers after that cause the issue. I've already put in a ticket regarding this and have also contacted nvidia.

Uninstall the drivers using DDU in safe mode and then try installing 385.69

My new sc17 laptop was having the same problem with the Creators update and the latest Nvidia drivers. saadtariq30's suggestion of the back reving to the 385.69 drivers fixed my problem. I guess we are waiting for a fix from Nvidia or Microsoft.

My laptop model number is 758-41-2633-T1.

    Thanks for the fix saadtariq30.

Is this supposed to resolve what I'm seeing after the EVGA splash screen issue like the pictures that I've posted?

I used DDU in safe mode, then restarted the computer and installed 385.69 again in safe mode, and it didn't work. I'm still getting the artifacts after EVGA splash screen.

    Thanks though!

The 385.69 drivers BLOW with destiny 2. Anyone figure out anything else to try?

I just did a clean install of windows and no progress.

This sucks for a brand new laptop.

I'm having some similar issues with my SC17/1070/Gsync (768-41-2633-T1).

I too had a problem with not waking from hibernation. My first day with the laptop I let it go to sleep long enough to hibernate, and it wouldn't wake up as someone else had happen. After doing a hard power off, I got a Windows error on boot which I could not get around. ($#^&@) I tried allll the Windows voodoo I knew, but I was forced to reinstall Win10 from scratch.

(Fortunately, I could make an installer thumb drive on another computer ... doubly fortunately, this copy of Windows magically activated itself when installed on my SC17.) Since installing Windows fresh I have not had any problems waking from sleep or hibernation, though. (My machine is still set to hibernate after 3 hours of sleep.)

From the first time I turned it on, I see a moment of screen corruption that looks a lot like OP's second image. It only flashes by for a fraction of a second during boot. As far as I remember, *every* time I have booted, including while reinstalling Windows, I see the same corruption. However I have seen no other video-related issues so I decided to not worry about it. (I'm using whatever latest Nvidia drivers they want to push on me via GFE)

I had another problem I saw no one else report, with my Synaptic touchpad drivers not properly supporting the right trackpad button. After a few rounds of the uninstall/reinstall rodeo, that cleared up.

Other than the moment of screen corruption on boot, the laptop seems to be working perfectly. (knock on wood)

    Good luck out there!

I guess I now know why the laptop was 59% off normal retail price. My issues started today, the 4th time I started using it. Black screen after hibernation then ONLY back screen on reboot. I haven't successfully gotten back in yet to make a boot disk.

Guys, try Windows 8.1...Microsoft lets you create a bootable Windows 8.1 on a USB stick. Find a key (just that it allows you to install Win 8.1,) any keys you probably find on the net will allow you to install but not activate...this approach will at least allow you to figure out if it's Windows 10 and/or the combo of Win10 / NVIDIA Driver. If it works for you and you can use Win8.1, you can buy a key from newegg/amazon, etc....you can always reinstall Win10 after that.

Use duckduckgo.com for the search with this term: "windows 8.1 usb iso" it should be the third result. I got rid of Win10 on the first day and having been using Win 8.1 for three days with only one driver crash, probably because I was doing all the driver installs that day, it's been fine since then. I used the latest driver from Nvidia for Win 8.1, not from the download page on evga --- I'm exchanging mine though due to a defective group of stuck pixels.

I tried windows 10 1607 (cumulative update Version 1607: August 2, 2016) with drivers 388.71 and there no artifacts. I have this windows on my usb drive, and i'm glad than not deleted it. Of course windows will automatically update to latest version and we will get what we have now.
