--- update I took the advice and did a clean reinstall of windows 10 using windows media creation tool and it all worked out. And it is version 1709. You don't need to worry about activation, as long as you make the creation tool using your EVGA laptop, the activation process will be automatically completed assuming you don't swap any hardware. --- Guys, I just received my SC17 today and tried to install the newest update twice, both of them were stuck at the black screen during the installation process. I was able to roll back with hard reset the computer but it seems like it is a common issue for this new release. I did some googling and some computer may experience this issue and apparently this model is. I guess we just have to wait until Microsoft or EVGA work this out.

I have a new SC17 with 1080 and one of the first things I did was swap out the ssd and HD, so I did a clean install of windows. No issues here with the Fall Creators Update.

Since I didn't try the update method, not sure what issue is, but if you do a clean install with the media creation tool, it should work fine. The drivers are all taken care of by windows update and the only software is the precision x mobile.

Same here - SC17 gsync 1070 windows creator update fails with black screen. I blocked the update for now but get a black screen occaisonally (I think after sleep mode?). Not really happy with this brand new laptop....

Just do a clean reinstall and it should be ok. It is more than likely an issue of Microsoft.

Then you might be waiting a long time. My advice would be to download any updates you want to usb stick and install them manually. https://www.windowscentra...ative-updates-manually

This means that I have to wipe all my data on the notebook right? And reinstall all the software etc... Just to get this straight: you advice to download and install a fresh windows 10 image that includes the creator update and all the latest updates? Or do you think it will work if I only install the updates manually instead of via windows update? Thanks

Some say give it a few hours (3-4) and the update will eventually work itself out. I was impatient so I did a clean install. Some people are obsessive with new updates, others are not. If you don't want to waste anytime on this then just stick to the old version, until the issues is solved by Microsoft or EVGA.

Not for me... My clean install left me with no recognition of the GPU, 1024x768 resolution, and really frustrated. What now? Do I really have to RMA?

Did windows do all the updates, including GPU driver? Under device manager- display adapters, what does it say? How did you do the clean install? Using the latest media creation tool? Or just a reset?

Sure, thanks for the questions. So first I did an install from a USB w10 boot. It left me at 1024x768, with no recognition of the Nvidia card. After I posted, and during your response, I again booted from the USB and did a full format of both drives and reinstallation. Now I have 4k resolution, and my device manager recognizes the Nvidia card. That said, the EVGA GPU drivers I've downloaded do not detect any hardware on my system, and I am back to square 1. Thoughts? EDIT: I did NOT do the windows update, as that's what got me into the black screen issue the first time around. I also noticed 2 nights ago that I cannot open Fortnite. The game, and OS crashes to a full reboot. Checked this a few times, replicated each time. If I try and change my resolution in a fullscreen PUBG game, the OS crashes.

It is a start that at least device manager recognizes the GPU. Download the latest driver from NVidia site, and see if it installs correctly.

GPU drivers from EVGA did not work. GPU drivers were then installed from NVidia Geforce Experience. Bios had also been updated. My first run through on PUBG has the main menu artifacting, and I'm getting a band of green noise on the map, and red noise a few inches below that. I am downloading a benchmarker but i'm getting concerned.
