A 1080ti is a great card but The real question will be real world improvement in lighting and image quality. The 1080ti will still play about everything on ultra high settings but image quality can change a lot from one generation to the next.

I wonder if a regular 2080 would be worth going to vs 2080ti like will it still run 4k like a champ

I'm holding out for hybrid cards. I don't like the 2.5 slot and larger models as they block a ton of my other pci-e slots. I put in an order for this one on Amazon but if benchmarks are disappointing or the hybrid cards/kits are released I'll jump to those.

It will more than likely be the Boost Clock. Should be the same hardware, just pushed harder. Currently its a $50 difference between the Ti XC and Ti XC Ultra.
