Hopefully I will have better luck with this queue.  The only card I signed up for was the 10G-P5-3881-KL back in April 2021.

I just picked up a 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra and registered it. Thinking I might wait until the end of January to start the Step-Up in case a 3090 Ti launches.

Honestly, there's no point to upgrade from that to the regular 3090, unless you really need that extra 12GB of VRAM.
The 90Ti looks impressive so if you're a big overclocker that's going to be a fun card to benchmark.  If you're just playing games maybe not worth the cost.

How exactly is one supposed to ask for a notify on the new system?

The 3080 12gb page only says there is no stock and does not show a button to notify.

My guess it being open this morning was in error and was quickly closed. And that goes towards queue 2.0. Not 3.0.

No, we chose to do a limited queue this morning.  I don't have a time or date when the queue will reopen, but it will at some point.

Is this a confirmation that Elite 24-hour access is a thing of the past?

This morning if you weren't logged in it showed the FTW3 was for Elite Members only. So yeah only Elite Members for that timespan got in queue.

Unless you were there in the first 20 mins or so after it release, you're out of luck. The notify button is disabled now, It'll be opened again in the future.

If time is no longer supposed to be the priority why would the queue get shut down. This is going to cause FOMO on all future drops and your servers will get unnecessarily overloaded on new product launch days. Keeping it open makes more sense so that we have the satisfaction of coming to the site at our leisure and signing up and knowing that just a few hours difference in our timestamp isn't going to be a big deal. But now the FOMO will be real going forward.

My recollection is that Elite access was still mentioned in the 3.0 rules. But I do think that the score and tier allocation make it "just one factor" in the actual timing for getting a card through the queue. There are the registrant's EVGA score, binary yes/no re previous 30 series purchase via the queue, and timestamp (with Elite affecting only this last element).

All ques have been locked until EVGA catches up on the current ques. Mainly FTW3's (non-hybrid and hydrocoppers) of other sku's are moving, even some at slower paces than others, but moving none the less. If you weren't able to get into the system then I'd advise trying other outlets such as the newegg shuffle (not sure when they'll start posting the new models). Hope this helps, and best of luck!

Definitely not.  Elite 24-hour access is considered an important part of Queue 3.0.  However, we ultimately chose to put a cap on the number of people who could sign up for this launch.

So the 308012GB que shut down after 20 minutes this morning. Then OP said he doesn't have a time or date when it will open again. Does that mean the elite member 24-hour early access null and void? I'm very curious because I missed my 3080 notification. Was on a camping trip in the mountains. Would really like a chance to get the 12GB version even if I have to pay more. Remember this que is still better than what every other company is doing. I'm all for it. Just want to know when I need to be paying attention.

In reading through the queue rules and how the scoring system works I had bought a 3090 from Evga on launch day.  Since that is already registered will that lower my chances of getting a 3090Ti?

Directly relates to this statment on the rules, "30 Series purchase status – Customers who have purchased a 30 Series product from EVGA.com will be deprioritized in the VGA queue, and will become eligible to purchase their VGA notify product(s) after others in their tier purchase a 30 Series product."

So just so I'm clear it was this launch where you capped the number of 24 hour in advance elite signups there were going to be before the general availability is thrown open?  Will this happen with new sku's also like the 3090 Ti (or Tie)? Do we need to be both quick and lucky even with the elite special pass?

I think this was a special situation, as EVGATech_LeeM stated they capped the sigh-ups for this one at this time. As for missing your prior que, you may try contacting EVGA and advise them of your situation as to why and how you missed your prior que. They may provide a one time adjustment. Maybe not. Worth a shot regardless.

This is a fair point, and I don't disagree with your analysis.  But also consider that sometimes one-off changes are just that: one-off changes.  I suspect that this deviation from the Elite Queue has more to do with testing the new Queue 3.0 system with a smaller number of notifications before we ultimately go full steam ahead, but that's just speculation.

Maybe the question that would be helpful to answer is whether when the 3080 12gb autonotify button is turned back on, will Elites still have a 24 hour window before non-Elites can register.  The alternative is that we are currently burning that 24-hour Elite window right now, with the auto-notify button turned off.  @EVGATech_LeeM, can you provide any insight?

I see and understand your question here. I did a quick search for an official launch date of the 12gb but didn't see anything other than the potential announcement of said model. Maybe the notify was a pre-release  or pre-pre-release.

*To celebrate EVGA Queue 3.0, the users with the 300 highest EVGA Scores will be exempt from this requirement for select future launches, beginning with the GeForce RTX 3080 12GB. These users may sign up for a notification and proceed without being deprioritized for a previous 30 Series purchase from EVGA.com. This offer is only good for one product/notification queue, and once the product is purchased it may not be used again.

How will someone know if they have this exemption?

Honestly I don't want to take it from the next person in line. I'd rather just get in the new que and wait. I have a 30 series already. Feels selfish to complain.

i like the bones of this program, but does it actually reward customers who stick with EVGA?

a friend of mine is trying to upgrade this year, his last build was in 2017. i've known him for years and when upgrade time roles (we often tend to sync up) i know he favors EVGA gear.

but if i'm reading the rules right, that means none of his EVGA equipment will actually count towards his score - his 1070 card would be reduced in score weight, but it doesn't even count anyway - it was purchased more than 3 years ago, and the page indicates points only count for 3 years from date of purchase.

just looking at GPUs, it seems weighted towards people who have recently bought cards, mostly 2000 series owners, or 3000 series owners who got cards from somewhere besides EVGA.

valuable customers to retain since they like to spend, if that's your goal - but if you want to also keep brand evangelizers in your ecosystem, there should be a better balance, maybe something besides a blanket 3-year cut off. who's buying a 1000w titanium PSU planning to scrap it in 3 years?

just some stuff i was thinking about. he just got an ultrawide screen monitor and his 1070 is creaking under the strain. i've been trying to help him get a card but it'd be nice if there was a way for EVGA's programs to reward people like him, who are on (what i consider to be) a more normal 3+ year upgrade schedule.

Your friend should have a shot at getting a card.  The tiered program provides an opportunity to obtain GPUs for those with low EVGA product purchase volume, little to no bucks, and no ribbons.  These folks will sit in a lower tier, but that tier should still get allotment every drop per SKU.  That group will mainly compete then on the basis of signup times (like the old way).  This is because they will likely all be in the same score bracket (meaning, lowest).  Everyone has a chance, but you must still be quick to sign up in case of the tie situation.

yeah i see that he will be "in the queue" but the page also said they'd be listening to customer feedback and other data so i'm really here just to give feedback on it. its skewed completely towards people with recent purchases - it's not really rewarding brand loyalists, just cementing the hold people who have managed to upgrade in the last 3 years to a 2000 or 3000 series already have on choice hardware.

Re: EVGA Queue 3.0 (Beginning 1/11/2022) 2022/01/11 12:18:12 (permalink)
I got in at 6:14 this morning, but I don't think I'll have any EVGA points (just a PSU in the past 3 years. A 1080 and 460 prior to that that wouldn't count). Interested to see how long it takes. Probably a few thousand people ahead of me.

The fact that people are still waiting from November 2020 for a regular 3080 gives me very little hope that I'll see a card before the 4000-series launch. Still, better to be in a queue than completely left out.

So yeah only Elite Members for that timespan got in queue.

the key word is 24-hour access....

Definitely not.  Elite 24-hour access is considered an important part of Queue 3.0.  However, we ultimately chose to put a cap on the number of people who could sign up for this launch.

WHY?  lol

Also, as someone else pointed out, are we burning that 24-hour access right now? That was my point. If future cards are going to be limited in quantity for future drops Elite members should be informed. Also, are these select few who got into the queue early this morning being sold cards directly, or will they also be subject to the 3.0 rules and scores once scores are available? If it's the latter then the limitation on sign ups seems pointless other than to create chaos upon availability and perhaps cause your server further turmoil.

If you missed your 3080 notification, there is a chance that EVGA will still honor it.  Reply to the invite to purchase email you received (it should have come from ordernotify@evga.com) and they may -- I stress the word may -- rehabilitate it for you by sending you a new email with a fresh purchase link.  That is, assuming, you still want the 3080.

Best of luck!

I don't think they're doing that anymore, or at the very least being very selective about it.

So just so I'm clear it was this launch where you capped the number of 24 hour in advance elite signups there were going to be before the general availability is thrown open?  Will this happen with new sku's also like the 3090 Ti (or Tie)? Do we need to be both quick and lucky even with the elite special pass?

Thanks

I second these questions.. we need to know.

I hope this is a one-off. It doesn't sound like you have the answers we seek if you're also speculating.

Could someone provide some guidance on how to understand if I should remove some of my 2.0 notifies for the new cards getting released in the future ?

This last notify shows that somebody one day before I registered got a drop, but there was no drop in more than 30days.......
I would like to know where to find the information to make a rational decision on if I should cancel one of my queue to get into a 3.0 queue for a new product.
Please take into account that I don't care which of the 3080 or the 3090 I get, I just want one asap.

so if you followed the previous rules and got a card, now it's "back of the line" for everything going forward? can anyone quantify deprioritization? do you get dumped to the bottom of the list from being a prior patron? or just knocked down a few pegs? do registered products offset your deprioritization? it all seems a bit vague on that point.

do registered products require invoice upload/approval to count for points? or just register? if the later I foresee some folks just grabbing random serials online to register phantom products that they don't really own.

I interpret this policy to read that you will be pushed behind anyone IN YOUR TIER who has not yet received a 30 Series card from the EVGA queue.  This would mean that you still get priority over the lower Tiers.  So, spend more, help more, earn more bux still gets you ahead of others... just not the folks within your Tier who are on their first card from the queue or who have a better score.  If you are Top Tier, then it is highly unlikely (although possible) that there would be anyone ahead of you who has yet to get a 30 series from the queue.

More or less yes, but....  It is correct that you are pushed behind people in your tier while you are deprioritized, but also behind others in lower tiers as well.  It's not until you are no longer deprioritized that your EVGA Score once again becomes the best predictor of when you might receive your notification.

Thanks for your reply.  This clarifies things a bit.

Opinion: It would seem that the de-prioritization would go on for quite some time, depending upon how long the queue button was live and how many people got in.  Potentially thousands of folks will be ahead of you, regardless of their score.  Good news for those first timers.  Bad news if people find a way to exploit this caveat ("first timer" impersonators).  Hopefully the anti-bot measures hold fast.
