Re: EVGA Queue 3.0 (Beginning 1/11/2022) 2022/01/18 21:10:38 (permalink)

So, as I expected, this new 3.0 queue turned out to be yet another EVGA cluster you-know-what.
I have a registered 3070 FTW3 Ultra and a SuperNOVA 1200 P2.  Both purchased within the last two years.
My score is 8.

Meanwhile, people who've purchased significantly less in terms of dollar value have ridiculously high scores in the thousands.
So I'd like to wish everybody the best of luck, but I'm done with EVGA.

Seasonic makes the best power supplies anyway, so why would I give my money to EVGA?  So that they can reward people who post and whine incessantly on their forums?  No, thanks.  I have a life.
As for video cards, hell, there are plenty of options besides EVGA.

What exactly was wrong with the previous queuing system anyway?
What happened to first come, first served?  You sign up as number 15 in the queue, and you get card number 15.  Why wasn't that good enough?

For all you people holding your breath and hoping, stressing, and getting aggravated, take my advice and move on.  It's not worth it.  If you have enough time on your hands to earn thousands of points from doing nothing but posting nonsense on EVGA's forums, do yourselves a favor and go outside for some fresh air once in a while.  And if you're already out and about, go drive down to your local computer store (or whatever retailer you have nearby) once or twice a week.  I guarantee you'll have your cards much sooner than you would with whatever queue version EVGA has implemented.

I've already picked up a 3080 Ti (non-EVGA) by going down to the local computer store and standing outside for 15 minutes in the morning before the store opened. I checked their stock levels the night before, and noticed they had two cards in stock.  So the next morning, I was first in the door, and first out with my purchase.  Paid MSRP.

Two days later, the same store received another shipment of 3080's, 3070's, and 3070 Ti's.  I could've bought a dozen more cards in the span of a few days.  Or I could've spent the next two years in EVGA's "queue" waiting and hoping.

this score thing makes no sense it rewards new card and EVGA bucks are almost 2x for 1 it no 2 points per... but screw you if you been using EVGA cards going back 12 years ... feel like you should be rewarded for them too not just new cards

All the scalpers with a 0 score also love that the queue duration was so short that people with scores couldn't even sign up.

Score means nothing when the queue is timing-based.

As inconvenient as it is for you, this suggests to me that the queue is working as intended as more people who have not received a card from the queue are being prioritized. Hopefully your name comes up soon.

If you had used a new account, you stood a good chance of being banned and that wouldn't have helped.

nop, what this suggests is that i will simply create a new account for the next queues. and from my understanding thats exactly what alot of other peeps did.
i know someone with 3 accounts, received 3/3 notifications.
yeah the queue is working as intended indeed

Nobody can confirm, and it may vary between models. It has been said that cards through the RMA process will not count towards the score, but how many points any version or series of card is only known by EVGA at this point (or to my knowledge anyways).

Is Queue currently working for Canada? All GeForce 30 Series Family cards are showing this for me: "Due to high demand, the notify queue sign-up is temporarily disabled." So I can't put myself in queue for some reason.

Does having a wife violate the TOS?

Explain just why a legally individual person, can not sign up for an account. Explain How you know that his wife didn't fully approve his creating the Account, and that her details/payment method won't be used to make the purchase.

Case in point. I've built pc's for my kids and for my wife, i've made the purchases through my account for conveniences. It's clear that under the new terms this is now disadvantageous. So, if my son wants to upgrade his card, why shouldn't i create an account for him? Seems to me that with the introduction of the new queue, individual accounts is exactly what EVGA want you to do.  There is already a one per household limit on most of the SKU's, so it's not like each member of the family can have a 3080 Ti FTW3 anyway.

It used to be advantageous to register products for the same household under the same account - now it seems it's the opposite.

Setting up multiple accounts to get around the queue limits has been going on since 1.0.  EVGA has gotten better at scrubbing orders.
Getting a "notify" to a fake account is one thing, getting the order to go through is another.

And coming onto the forum to brag that you setup an account specifically to game the system is great.  More people should do that.

I can see the Queue 3.0 is going to make tracking impossible, the timestamp doesn't mean much anymore unless we know what "tier" they are in.
I am afraid Q-3 will be the end of how we track the queue.

I understand why Queue 3.0 makes business sense for EVGA, and can help in some aspects with preventing scalping, but the big focus on associate codes and EVGA bucks counting for so much of the score leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I purposely haven't signed up for the associates program because I don't feel like hounding friends or the public to make sure they buy EVGA and use my code-- effectively working as an unpaid marketing intern for EVGA. I'm much more content to instead use someone else's code (especially someone helpful from the forums), and save a few actual bucks.

Accordingly, I have accumulated very few EVGA bucks and despite what I would call significant loyalty and a dozen or so purchases over the last few years, I have a measly 33 score.

It's clear that EVGA Elite and Queue 3.0 are not really loyalty programs anymore, they're programs to incentivize people to become unpaid marketers for EVGA.

What exactly was wrong with the previous queuing system anyway?
What happened to first come, first served?  You sign up as number 15 in the queue, and you get card number 15.  Why wasn't that good enough?

I'm curious about this as well. I know there are numerous complaints from those who queued up and are still waiting on drops, but that seems to be more an issue of lack of communication than it is an indictment of the system. Personally, I thought the old queuing system worked fine. I'm somewhat biased because I was able to snag a card about 4 months after queueing, but we all knew what it was, what we were getting into, and there was some insight into how things were progressing based on self-reported notifications. Now, it's really hard to tell where anyone stands and the fact that queues now CLOSE is concerning since the whole point of a queue is to get in line for something while acknowledging you aren't guaranteed to get it, but now the mere option to get in line is dictated by a black box score. Will this create even more confusion down the line when 40-series cards launch?

All that said, I have a card and it works really well, so I'm happy and won't need a new one for a long time.

I think the new system is definitely a move in the right direction, considering how much bots began to dominate the old system of time based signups due to the site being DDOSed. Now instead of having to F5 and hope the site loads, you just have to sign up while the notifies are on the site.

If you don't see a "auto-notify" button on the 30 series product page of the product that you want to queue for, then "yes"...that queue is not accepting new registrations.

In general, my understanding is that North America and Europe are currently closed to 30 series queue registrations.  On January 27, the 3050 should open for registrations for Elite members. January 28, the 3050 series should open for registrations for non-Elite accounts.

I am not sure I am following you.  In order to get into a queue, you need to click on the applicable 30 series product's "auto-notify" button. If that product's page does not have a visible "auto-notify" button, it means that it is turned off and EVGA is not currently accepting new registrations for that 30 series product.  Other, non-30 series products also have "auto-notify" buttons when the product is out of stock, but clicking those buttons do not enter you into a queue (EVGA will just send you an email when that non-30 series product is in stock and it will be first come, first served at that point...i.e., a race to checkout).
