Since I updated to 6.0.9 it will crash upon starting the program. I haven't had this before. Usually if I start it again then it works ok.

    Need a little info like OS, CPU, MB, Memory, PSU and Age, Driver Version;
Any Dump File Error Codes (C:\WINDOWS\LiveKernelReports\WATCHDOG) or C:\WINDOWS\Minidump
Are you Overclocking your CPU and or Memory on your MB?

Exception code: 0xc0000005 is generally "Access Denied"

Are you still having this issue "MS Office 2013/2016 - Excel (only?) too slow/freeze -> EVGA Precision X16 5.3.8" as well?

    Windows 10 Pro 64bit Version 1607 (OS Build 14393.447)
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz (Not Overclocked)
    16G Memory, G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory
ASRock H170 Pro4 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (Note: Memory speed set to Sport in BIOS)
EVGA 650W GQ PSU New June 2016)
EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6GB SC GAMING Video Card
    Nvidia Driver 375.70

I don't have any Dump Files that correspond timewise with the XOC crash, and not sure how to attach them.
Further note, I did not uninstall the 6.0.8 version prior to installing 6.0.9.
I am overclocking the 1060 but it is the same as I have been using for some time.
When XOC does crash, after I clear the program has stopped working dialog, I can open it again, and then it works ok.

On the Excel, I have disabled hardware acceleration, so will have to reenable and test it.

    More Info:
The first instance I can find of Precision XOC crashing was after installing Nvidia driver on 10/28. This was XOC 6.0.8.
Next occurrence on 11/7 XOC 6.0.8

    Installed XOC 6.0.9 on 11/11
    Crashed on 11/15 then 11/16

So almost random which makes me think it could be related to something else? There were a lot of Windows updates on the 15th.

I just enabled Hardware graphics acceleration on Excel and will test it out. So far, it seems fixed. But as I use Excel will keep an I on it.

    Yes your Driver 375.70
Windows 10 Pro 64bit Version 1607 (OS Build 14393.447) Check your Version is out of date, use winver
Best to do a clean install just like with the Graphics Driver "I did not uninstall the 6.0.8 version prior to installing 6.0.9."
Make sure you delete your Old Profiles as well.
Glad your Excel issues is now fixed.

It seems to be something related to the 6.0.9 as the 6.0.8 occasionally crashed. but the 6.0.9 crashes just about every time on the first startup. But it could be related to not uninstalling the 6.0.8 first. Also I note that their is a new Nvidia driver (375.95) out. Maybe I should try updating the Nvidia driver or uninstalling XOC and reinstalling.

It is actually not that big an issue. I just run XOC again after the crash, then it is fine and overclock and games work fine.

Have been using Excel office etc today and have not noticed my issues I had before.

    Today I:
uninstalled 6.0.9. Deleted any EVGA related directories and files.
    Installed the new Nvidia drivers.
Installed 6.0.9 and it seems to still have the same issue.

Installed the new Nvidia drivers. This is most likely the issue. Now the last 5 Drivers have had issues.
That was why I am running Driver 368.81 and 373.06 on my Laptop.

Hah! Been having this problem for a while now.  Everyone just suggests uninstalling your drivers with a clean install and clean install of PrecisionX, but it never works. It's just crappy program code.

I have been using it since 2012 and never really had any problems for what I use it for.

Getting the same happening here. 6.0.9 crashes on startup. Once the window closes, the PrecisionX Server is still running (icon in systray), and restarting XOC works. This started after the....... second-most recent nvidia driver update and 6.0.9. Not life-ruining, just annoying, but hope this gets looked at.

Edit: It sort of looks as though the app is not waiting until the (background?) server is finished loading.

I am still getting the same problem. I never found a solution.

It does seem to be unique to 6.0.9. I had random crashes before but this is every time. First launch time crashes, but restart and it is ok from then on.

Alright, so, I was having a specific error with EVGA precision crashing. It was this error:

Faulting application name: PrecisionX_x64.exe, version: 6.0.6.0, time stamp: 0x57d0fefc
Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.14393.479, time stamp: 0x5825887f
    Exception code: 0xc0000374
    Fault offset: 0x00000000000f8283
    Faulting process id: 0x2240
    Faulting application start time: 0x01d25c6e9b1a977e
    Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\EVGA\PrecisionX OC\PrecisionX_x64.exe
    Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll

    Faulting package full name:
    Faulting package-relative application ID:

It would error out about 4-6 times of starting, but then it would start up and stay on the 7th or whatever attempt. It was always random.

    Weird thing. I just got a new monitor that's an ultra wide screen 2560 x 1080 resolution. I had two monitors beforehand, one a 1920 x 1080 and a 1680 x 1050.

I swapped out the 1680 x 1050 monitor and the crashes stopped! I'm not sure if the resolution was causing it or what....? Really strange. But, if you have 2 monitors hooked up, I would suggest try removing one of them and seeing if the crashing goes away.

I'm having an issue with the Precision XOC receiving a system error when I load up the program.
"The program can't start because mfc120u.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem"
I have uninstalled several times to try and fix it but to no success. Is there anyway I can run this program or am I just stuck without being able to use it?

My precision XOC would crash, now it just doesn't startup. I did find a fix though, uninstalled until real release drops.

Re: EVGA Precision XOC 6.0.9 sometimes crashes at startup 2017/03/06 22:25:16 (permalink)
Glad I found this thread as this has been annoying the crap out of me for a while.
This problem pretty much started since 6.0.9 and I've spoken with the very nice people at support - not condescending at all, they really are nice people and always willing to do what they can.

However, it's about time that this was resolved and EVGA acknowledge that this issue is related to compatibility issues with Precision XOC and stop just blaming every process/program/whatever.
I've deleted the program as per supports instructions (even tried doing it in safe mode/tried latest pro version of Revo uninstaller to remove absolutely every last trace of it from my computer and registry), and for a completely unrelated issue after a clean install of Win 10, Precision XOC still crashes on startup 95-99% of the time when set to start with Windows.
If it's something to do with a Windows update then EVGA needs to investigate and fix it. If it was really a huge mistake in Windows then Microsoft would have remedied, but since it's only impacting Precision XOC I don't think Microsoft are going to spend money figuring out why EVGA's little program is having issues.
NO! Not the way it works. EVGA needs to fix this.

I've faithfully stayed with Precision XOC to support the program and community, but the reality is that it doesn't do anything that Afterburner can't (the RGB light selection excluded) - I have an FTW 1080 so I just set the RGB color scheme I like in Precision XOC and it's saved to the cards memory and then close down Precision XOC as it's no longer required to be running for that purpose.
So beyond the RGB functionality, unless I'm missing something, I can't see anything that Precision XOC offers that Afterburner doesn't as far as general day to day operation of the card is concerned. Afterburner starts up faithfully every time without fault.
Like I said, I like the UI of Precision XOC and want to use it, but if EVGA won't acknowledge the issue and provide an update to resolve it, then how can they expect customers to use a broken tool?
And if the tool doesn't work, and with the bad taste many of us (me included) have in their mouths about the el cheapo VRM/overheating screw up to save a few bucks and then redesign the board to rekindle customer confidence in the brand (you guys know this is the main reason you did this all the BS aside), it's just another reason to not look at EVGA for future GPU purchases.

I have quite a few friends with MSI/Asus 1080's and they don't have any of these issues.
So this laziness to address what's likely a simple issue with Precision XOC may be the final straw for many to ditch EVGA on their next GPU purchase.
All for the sake of saving a few hundred bucks to pay a developer to investigate and resolve.
The cost of one card vs losing potentially hundreds of future purchases?
I wouldn't run a business like that, not when there's so much choice for consumers in the GPU market.

Just fix the damn program guys and stop spinning the "blame everything else" wheel so you don't have to do anything about it. Given the VRM/overheating issue, it's penny wise but dollar stupid to assume that you can just sweep this under the carpet and pretend it doesn't exist.

Mate, just do yourself a favor and download Afterburner 4.3.0 Final. It's so much more stable and with the ability to overclock using voltage curves, you will get a far more stable OC.
I love EVGA products but this software is garbage.
Even the moderators and tech support guys will tell you that Afterburner is better and what they use.

There's a time when you should stop beating a dead horse......just go Afterburner and don't look back. It just works.

looks like I got the issue with latest build.
