I run 9900x on X299 1.297v @ 4.7 0avx 3000 corsair on Corsair Hydro 100i. I'm lazy too when it comes to tweaking it.

Is there a way around the phantom throttling? I woke up at the start of this fall with load temps in the 60c in 34F weather, and it was frustrating to freeze my butt off with the windows open...

I thought that chip could do 5ghz at 1.3v according to Steve at GamersNexes. I do
override on my voltages, and i noticed even mine at 1.275v, i some reason drops to
1.19v in CPU'z, but shows 4800mhz in core speed.

Ok, amazing results i got from following JayztwoCents on this platform, and how i was able to get much lower
temps, and still rock a high core count.

I been running around 1.275 on the cpu, and 1.85 on the Vin. now i went way down to 1.2v, no avx offsets, and
still a 32 mesh. and a 1.8 , and wow, not only lower temps, but seems to still pass tests. so
the point of all this is to get most clocks and least amount of juice and still rock stable over
a previous generation 7 series, makes difference and at 4800 got a 1.2vcore no offset.

But can't seem to hit 5 ghz even with a 1.375 vcore so its something else not going past 4800, so i
undervolted.

His stay home vid from a few months ago where he oced his 9980xe, on an ASUS board, which i thought he
was an EVGA guy. i digress, but he was able to run an 18 core cpu at 1.2v at 4700mhz

So, the tweaking is complete, can't really get more from skylake x than a nice all core 4.8ghz, and with
16 timings at 4000mhz, and a nice 1.2v on cores, its pretty damn stable. Unless i can sqeeze more from
it, let me know. And even with the 2070super FTW3, 10 core offset, and 7600 mhz mem, i'm gonna just
enjoy it, and let it run.

Thought I would reveal what EVGA Tech Support replied, on my TPM: Event Error issue:

 Hello

This board is not equipped with Trusted Platform Module. This sounds like something is set up in Windows that is searching for that component but our board simply does not have it. Did this copy of Windows happen to be on another motherboard/platform?

Regards

If you don't mind me asking, what Motherboard and memory are you using?

I have the X299FTW-K and G.Skill, Trident Z RGB F4-4000C15Q-32GTZR Memory, and I only can set my memory to 3800MHz. My system will crash at 4000Mhz, even at stock settings... My memory settings are at [link=mailto:15-16-16-36@3800MHz]15-16-16-36@3800MHz[/link], 1.43 volts, seems to be very stable. But set it at 4000Mhz, and all falls apart.

Thanks for the info.....

That's what I thought you would have is a Dark, apparently the FTW-K will not support most 4000MHz memory.... or that is what EVGA Support said..

All i know, is this thing is so rock solid, and with the fine tuning of this thing. Cyborpunk 2077 runs like butter
with ultra settings and ray tracing. So all the little fine tuning has led to a damn good setup. According to
revews of the game and with the hardware as new as it is, seem to struggle with game.

Also, one thing i don't understand is: why can the regular I9's 9900k or 10900k sit at 5ghz, with no
effort, but on the X299, the chips need a lot of juice or cooling to get 5ghz, when its the same damn
silicon, being Skylake.

Total agree, dmann304

I have had my 10920X @ 5.0 with 1.3 volts, but was worried about Temps and voltage being there for 24hr usage.... I didn't do a lot of hardcore testing... was a little chicken...maybe sometime in the future, or if I can find somebody that's tested solidly...

I like this X299 FTW-K, just think it has some quirks in it....maybe there will be some Bios updates in the future.3

Maybe they can make it as good as the "DARK", just hoping

I always hear the Dark was souly used for benching, and testing, and the ftw was used for actual
use, however i got the Dark cuz i knew it would have a beefy power stage. and can run chips at
higher clocks with memory like Kinpin who was behind the design of this board.

X series is using the server design with AVX512 and mesh interconnect as well as 2 more memory controllers so it is a much more complex design.

Makes snese, so why is Intel dumping this platform? Seems 18cores 36 threads is no big deal for intel, since
they focus alot of effort on 10 core standard 2 channel mem config. I been using HEDT since X58, so back then
X58 delivered more in gaming and productivity, and had 3 channel, and now quad channel and its beaten by the
consumer designs. Wow, sad.

And how are foks doing at 4.9Ghz? on this setup>

Anyone here have recommendations on where to start with my 10980XE and X299 Micro motherboard?

Last CPU I OC'd was my 9900K in my laptop which was easy, just increase multipliers and adaptive voltage offset LOL.

Alienware Area-51M Laptop: Intel Core i9-9900K @ 5.3Ghz | nVidia GeForce RTX 2080
Alienware Aurora R4 Desktop: Intel Core i9 10980XE | nVidia Titan V
Alienware M18xR2 Laptop: Intel Core i7 3920XM @ 4.7Ghz | nVidia Quadro RTX 3000

Based on my 10940x on a X299 Dark what I am seeing is adaptive voltage is broken.
I use the per core method for setting the multipliers and also the per core method for V-core, set to override.
Currently have all cores at 4.8ghz using a override of 1.19v.
No matter what I did with adaptive voltage and offsets it was giving the cores too much voltage creating excess heat.

Yea, seems 48 is really the highest. I run it at 1.25v, cuz it ran fine at 1.2v, but a few sessions of Handbrake
rebooted system, so 1.25v seems locked, and the fella with adaptive, well, its a no no, won't work.

The CPU you got is sweet. but 48 us as good as it gets unless you can jack up the vin above 1.8v

Ok, seem to sit around 4900mhz. Seems that the VCCIO, for memory needs addressing due to using XMP, now, the vcore is
important , but not as much as the VIN setting. Seems most like it around 1.8v, even at a nice OC of 45 to 48, you can sit at
1.85v, but i noticed that bumping this to: like 1.95v seems to settle down all the IO on the CPU, and get some nice tweaking
headroom.

Did a few runs of Cinabench, and AIDA, with a video conversion in Handbrake, and seems to to run without a restart, and
or BSOD.

Re: EVGA Overclocking Results 7.9.10 CPU"s 2020/12/19 16:51:05 (permalink)
Just got my custom loop up and running and was able to finally tame the temps on the 10980xe on x299 dark.

2x EK 360mm rads, with an RTX 3090 XC3 ultra on the loop too.

4.9ghz all core with volt override at 1.243, Ram at 4000mhz 16-16-16-37-1T, AVX offset zero, Mesh at 32. CPU can go higher but temps get insane due to exponential voltage requirements.

Was previously on a 280mm CLC just on the cpu was was only able to do 4.7ghz at 1.20v override for daily, temps were out of hand if higher .

My mystery atm is that i left Intel TVB 3.0 running and HWinfo says that even tho my cpu is ratio limited to 49x on all cores it logs as hitting 5.43ghz on all cores over time. Idk if its a wrong reading or just a very limited and sporadic single core boost behaviour on light loads. When i give it more juice with 1.26v instead of 1.24 it logs as hitting 5.6ghz on all the cores... ****...

That seems to be a damn good clock setting. I hit near 80c on full cinabench load at 4900mhz.
What are the other voltages running the chip? I notice, the vin seems to be the do or die setting
for these chips. I could do 5 now, but i would need 2.1v and a cpu vcore of 1.3v, but seems according
to Jay2cents, the gains are minimal or none, from 4900mhz.

As a baseline i started with Luumi's settings. Apart from the previous settings posted here are the rest i have on my daily driving profile for all core 4.9:

CPU VIN:  1.95v
Vcore:  Override - 1.244v
Vmesh:  Override - 1.30v
VIN Vdroop: Disabled
VSA:  1.190v
VCCIO:  1.190v
PCH:  1.00
Uncore Voltage Offset:  300
PLL & MC PLL Trims: +0

Edit: found it easy to go higher with not much temp increase if i disable Hyperthreading. Had some fun with it like that at 5.0 for a little bit.

Wow, same here. Seems each core clock likes a certain setting. I am really curious as to what vin is used to get
5ghz? I see a guy on youtube hitting it with a 1.98v which shows up as 2.3v for some reason in Eleet. Is that safe?
and a corsair aio 150i should hold up at that speed.

So, i was able to boot at 5Ghz, with a 1.98v and 1.3v core, seemed stable on Aida64 stress, Prime 95, blend,
a few games, and with an avx offset of 1 the Cinabench R15 run with 80c, but in R20 or 23,  lockup, but near
end of tile render, So I might be getting closer to stable , but temps are like: high, in the mid 80's near 90c.

So looks like 49 is where its at with a 360 ASIO, and 5 looks to be done , but with open loop water. But weird, in
games, seems to hover in the mid 50's for temps, and Aida, and Prime near 70c.

Edit:::::     Ok good news, running 5ghz no crashes, passes all tests including tile renders, and games run good, and even
prime 95 , and aida runs are stable. Great to see this, but had to push vin to 2.1v, 1.33v core.  and seems to fix it, temps on
a full tile render seem to sit at 80c a brief 90c and hovered at 85c.  And idle at 39c, so whatever i did seem to make it work.
Thought these chips were blast furnaces at 5 ghz, but mine seems rock solid.

Safe to run 2.1v vin?
