Hi, as the title states, I'm not getting any sound when waking up from sleep mode. Is this something everyone experiences or am I seeing a bug in the software/hardware? Is there anything I can do about this, to 'wake up' the sound card?

What sample rate do you have set when you put the PC to sleep? Is it switching to a different output (such as HDMI or your monitor) when it wakes up?

Hi, I was curious if it had something to do with the sample rate. I keep it at the maximum 32bit, 384000. As for it changing output, no it doesn't change output. The EVGA nu audio card is still listed as the output device and in the software I can see that 'sound' is being detected when I play a video or whatever, but nothing is outputted.

I also have this issues with putting my PC to sleep and the NU Audio card! Except for me, when I wake my PC from sleep my whole system crashes to a blue screen. I'm certain the NU audio card has something to do with it, my PC did not have this issue before I installed.

I'll see if we can do some testing in the next couple days to try and reproduce the issue here.

Just as a follow up with some more information. I tried again today, put it into sleep and woke it up and I had no sound at first, but was able to get some audio after adjusting the volume up and down a few times. But then all youtube videos would refuse playback and I'd get an error on the video. Then sound stopped working again until I reboot.

We did some testing in our Customer Service room and were unable to reproduce the sleep issue. The audio came back each time, as well. On the other hand, they found a rather strange and unrelated bug, so there was definitely some value in doing the testing. This might be a case where our engineering team might need to do some extended testing to figure out if we can reproduce some of these issues.

Hm strange. As it's very consistently NOT working for me. I suppose I will try setting a different sample rate before I go into sleep next, and see if that changes anything.

I have this same issue. Set at 32 / 192k. I have to reboot after coming back from sleep to get audio playback and Youtube videos working.

Do you guys have a minidump file or BSOD logs you can give us to look at? Our Audio team has tested sleep with a number of systems on-hand and cannot reproduce the issue. If you guys have any minidumps or error information you can give us, we'll gladly keep working on this.

Since I am not experiencing any type of crash, I won't have any bsod dump I can share. I haven't readily started digging through logs to find error information but can do so later.

Yeah, there's no crashes. It's simply that waking up from sleep, no matter the bitrate, doesn't have audio. Window's is detecting that sound is being produced, it's just not being outputted.

In device manager, right click the NuAudio device and open properties. Is there a power management tab for it? I don't own one so I can't check.

Hmm, do you have an amp you can connect to the line outs (RCA) or SPDIF? Just interesting to see if it defaults to a different output for some odd reason, since Windows thinks it's producing sound.

Noticed something which could help. If I have my sample rate set to a max of 32 bit, 96k, this issue completely stops occurring. Anything above this and the issue returns. Sound doesn't go out EVERY time it comes back from sleep but most times. Once it comes back from sleep and is not working, I've tried switching default sound devices and switching back, closing and reopening EVGA software, and closing all audio programs and reopening. In the EVGA software and Windows tab, the volume is lighting up as sound is being produced. Rebooting does cause the sound to start working again. I additionally discovered that downgrading to 32bit/96k without rebooting also causes it to instantly start working again. For what it's worth: OS: Win 10 1809 (latest patches) MB: EVGA x299 Dark (latest bios as of post) EVGA Audio version: 0.1.2.3 (latest as of post)

At the time you put it to sleep, can you tell if you have any audio playing, or programs/apps that are connected to something with audio open? For example, if you were using a music player program/app, did you put it to sleep while the app was open (regardless of whether audio was playing)? It doesn't have to be that specific scenario, but just something similar.

In general, programs which can use audio are certainly open when it goes to sleep (whether it be Discord, Tidal, web browser, etc). I typically do not have them actively playing audio when the computer goes to sleep but they are certainly open.

Next time you get a chance, would you mind trying a higher sample rate that normally causes the audio to disappear, then put the system to sleep without any of those programs open and see if you still have audio when you wake the system? I'm curious if it might be something related to the way audio might be stored/cached or acting up with NU Audio card.

I think you're onto something. I am able to reliably trigger the situation if I leave Chrome open with one of the tabs being YouTube. Duration of sleep and times of sleep since last boot are irrelevant. When it comes back from sleep, it will usually allow me to finish the current YouTube video however when I navigate to another video or another audio app, audio will not work. Thus far, leaving other audio apps open and not YouTube has not triggered the situation.

Does it happen with other browsers while using YouTube?

Hello, What's going on with this? Did we figure it out yet? I am about to return my card and go back to my sound blaster. This is pushing the issue for me, I had to reinstall Windows to get the software to work, now when I put the computer to sleep, Youtube doesn't work and no sound. Once I reboot it works, but that's annoying to do every time. I really appreciate any feedback you could give me.

Hi inkey, Which OS? That seems to be consistent from what I've seen a couple members report - namely having a browser open with Youtube tabs open when putting the system to sleep. I know that the new driver we posted today had an S3 issue fix for a sample rate conflict, but that may be unrelated. I've mentioned in a few other places that the updates to the driver we posted today have been the primary focus of our Audio team for the last few weeks. The sleep issue is on our list of bugs to sort out post-launch. TL:DR - This is a known complaint. I will be able to give you a better update by next week now that our team can spend more time on this.

Let's keep that conversation over to your thread on this. Right now, the latest driver should fix this. Please test and let me know if you still have an issue with YouTube tabs open if you put it to sleep.

I never fully figured out the problem and eventually gave up. Keeping my sample rate down to 32bit/96k was the only thing that consistently fixed it for me. While having a Chrome tab open with YouTube did allow me to consistently repro the problem, stopping this behavior did not 100% stop the problem and it still periodically occurred even if no browser or was open. I am downloading this new driver version and will report back.
