Just a few months ago I bought the EVGA Nu Audio sound card and I love it but question.

My motherboard is the MSI MEG Z390 ACE  and it's decked out in Corsair RGB products so it there any known conflicts with  Corsair iCUE software as I know the Audio Card is  USB Audio and iCUE relies on USB2.0 to communicate with the Commander Pro.   My system locks up randomly  and I know before the sound card  iCUE and Mystic Light did work OK together.  I could rip out the sound card as I would be crying to put back my Creative AE5  or I would be happy just to change everything to  Thermaltake

Thanks

I would try to update the ASMedia USB 3.0 driver in Windows Device Manager first, and see if that has a positive impact on your issue.  It might just be a driver conflict.

Thanks for the reply  as yes I done everything but one thing I didn't think to do.

The problems with hard crashes started after I gotten the Audio card so I was trying everything from re-installing windows 10 3 times to updating bios and even go back to older versions and it still crashed every time I installed iCUE from Corsair.  But one thing I didn't look at was MSI  Dragon Center with Mystic Light as ever since  I built this computer I had Corsair iCUE and Mystic light installed side by side without any problems just Mystic light would try to override iCUE from time to time. So in the last 24 hours as I uninstalled everything MSI on my PC and left iCUE installed as well as my Nu Audio card the PC hasn't crashed once...  this has been the longest as I was worried about reply to people's help  and saying it FIXED and then 10 mins later it crashes so knock on wood .    I am not sure why all of a sudden Mystic light is the problem as I lost the ability to change the RGB on my MSI 2080 Gaming X Trio but I may have to live with that and I am not sure if it's the combinations off all 3 software   Nu Audio , Mystic Light and iCUE the only way I know for sure is to take the audio card out and reinstall Mystic Light  but the my Audio is more important then the RGB on the video card as I could just unplug the RGB from the card itself.   I would love to have a  ALL IN ONE driver as just wished these companies got together and made one driver to control them all.  Thermaltake is doing this as they have a controller that doesn't use USB and go directly to the RGB header and giving up on their own software and use   ASUS , MSI  and Gigabyte softwear to control their products...

thanks again....  knock on wood as I not going to shut off my computer till  tomorrow and if it survives .... time to go scream on MSI's Form  as I done enough on Corsair's :)

If you continue to get crashes, I have a debug driver I can send you to generate a report.  Let me know, and get your post count up a little higher so that you can respond to my PM's.

Thanks...    should I wait for the next version of Mystic Light or do they even know as on MSI own site their form has only to do with hardware not the software they make.  I can't even prove if it's corsair causing the crash with Mystic Light.
    Right now it's not crashing.
There are test I can do
    Reinstall Mystic light.  (CRASH)
Leave Mystic Light in as well as iCUE but  pull out the Audio Card and  wait to see if it Crashes..     if it does then it's not the Audio card  right?
I read the Nu Audio is USB Audio does this share the same bus as the USB 2.0 headers?

Thanks...    should I wait for the next version of Mystic Light or do they even know as on MSI own site their form has only to do with hardware not the software they make.

NU Audio runs through an ASMedia USB to PCIe controller, which propagates in Windows as an ASMedia USB 3.0 bus.  Although it will overall tie into the Windows USB system, it will use a different driver and is recognized differently than onboard 2.0 headers.

I'm not enough of a software expert to really know what's going on there.  However, I do know that the most recent versions of Windows 10 has caused some odd HID updates for different devices at times, such as some of our cases.  I would check more with Corsair to see if that might be one of the issues you're seeing, as other devices have run into similar issues.

Same here as it's a lot of words and you don't know if it's a good thing or bad thing.

Well I just got home from work to find my PC locked up again as I am thinking on doing another test first I updated  the driver well not quite update as MSI  ASMedia Driver was 2018 so I updated to the one from Microsoft that is dated 2016 ....
Test two is to uninstall  the Audio drivers... wait a few days and see what  happens... if it does it again how you guys play well with Thermaltake as it will cost me $400+ to  change all my fans and cooler to theirs as their controller works not by USB but straight from the RGB header or just dump all the RGB but not so easy as all the companies are putting it on everything you buy.

    thanks for the help ...

Oh that Debug driver ...  should I try it?     as  will it show you where it crashed ?

Re: EVGA NU AUDIO question 2019/07/11 18:02:38 (permalink)
    SOLVED !!
I found the issue and you will be surprised as it's the the Nu Audio Card itself and not the drivers but it's the APP that is the issue with Corsair iCUE then it dawned to me that the APP not only control what you hear from the card but it's got it's own LED controller.
I am thinking that the LED Controller in the APP for the Audio card is clashing with iCUE  as after every reinstall of Windows 10 I put in all my drivers from NVIDIA  to the Audio Card drivers and once I installed iCUE then my system would crash making me believe it was iCUE in some way but iCUE and Mystic Light always worked well with my Sound Blaster AE5 audio card as it too had LED on the card but seem never had a problem.

So now everything is working fine as it should as I did another fresh install of Windows 10 and I running on the version 0.1.3.0  as once I install it I went into windows uninstaller and there were two EVGA  programs as I uninstalled the APP but I left the drivers so the card does work fine but I have No control over on how to tune the card to my ears .  I can change some settings within Windows but no BASS or Treble  it's just what you hear.

Not sure If I can disable the LED drivers in the APP but I am betting it's this is the issue not the other part of the APP...    maybe in a future Update you can look into this why it's clashing with other LED software.

There is one company that it taking a lead on this is Thermaltake just came out with new AIO Cooler and fans  called ARGB Sync meaning they are not controlling the LED's on their products as leaving it up to the Motherboard Companies like  MSI, ASUS and Gigabyte to control thought motherboards header.  I think this is a great idea as it will make the Motherboard companies to really work hard on their APPS and one APP controls it all no conflicts with APP vs APP

thanks for the help but please update the APP

Thanks for passing this on...  as my computer been on since Friday when I did another clean install as I have that down to a science  and it never crashed once.   I am happy that the sound card sounds great on it's own without any enhancement's but suffers on old 80's music where I think some songs need some help with bass due to the recordings at that time period.  But my music of choice is Vocal Trance and Chill out music as  that music doesn't need much help with bass but the I can hear the vocals clearly :)  My Speakers are the Audio Engine A5+ and I have a SUB 8   my god the lows  I guess I could spend more on speakers but can it get better as ear candy for the ears :)

Also iCUE is a must as it controls the temperature of my AIO Cooler as by default the fans will run at quiet around 700-800 rpm as I can set them to balance 1100rpm and they will cool down the i900k down to 30c when I just web browsing listening to music as on quiet I would notice 35c to 39c

So, we did some testing and it might be due to the MSI onboard audio software, since it also features Nahimic support.  We would suggest removing the MSI audio drivers, reinstalling the latest NU Audio, and try testing again.  Mystic Light and iCUE didn't seem to cause a compatibility issue on our end.

Thank You for doing this LeeM

Well I did try to remove the sound card and it locked up again after close to two days  ..  Yesterday I swapped the power supply and just now a after running for sometime it locked up.    Now it's down to either the Motherboard or the CPU :(     I could swapped the 9900K with my 8700K and see how that works for a few days  as I did a Intel check on the CPU and it cam back fine

    Update
Well after weeks of crashing as it was a $400 gamble but I went out and purchase a new motherboard as I found a thread on MSI Forum that their board was doing random crashes as it sounded very familiar to what was happening to me.  It just started to happen around the same time I got the audio card.  Maybe it's a power issue on the motherboard as you would think the MSI MEG Z390 ACE being their second top of the line motherboard it would not have any defects.   So my new board is the Gigabyte Z390 AORUS MASTER so hopefully this board won't have any issues but to say one thing I am noticing  a difference in how fast I am booting and I am sending my other one back to MSI for a replacement.

    thanks for the help

Yeah, it's funny how adding or replacing one item can start an avalanche of issues that leads to replacing half or most of your system.  Sheesh.  I hope this ultimately gives you stability.

Back in the mid 1990s there would be many times I would buy a PC part like a motherboard and there would be something wrong with it.  I haven't seen that for a long time as quality has gotten a lot better.   I am just happy I have more then one PC so I can swap parts around as it would of been a nightmare if you only had one PC chasing the part that is causing the issue
Well till the next PC part  :)

Back then you had jumpers and dip switches on the Motherboard as well.
You even needed to set the IRQ Address on some Device to use them.

There was no PUG and Play and to get into Windows you had to boot into DOS first :)  I remember installing Microsoft Office by floppy disk... you could eat a whole pizza waiting for it to install.   Kids these days have no ideal but it was the good old days not many corporations online and you can chat to people from any part of the world and play Doom :)

Why sound card does not start on the motherboard Gigabyte Z97-HD3 with a video card MSI GTX 1050Ti? All drivers and BIOS updated to the latest version. PC does not turn on with sound card. No sound card - thats`s OK, the PC turns on without problems
