Hello,

for the last couple of weeks my PC started to randomly power off or reboot.
First I ensured every fan and component is working properly and cleaned my case extremely (I clean my case every 2-3 months so the dust never piles up). That didnt helped so I removed all non-key components and cables like the case ports etc. After that I checked temps, put CPU and GPU on synthetic load checking if its load related. No power down during the test, it happens randomly. Today during Diablo3 hardcore gameplay it happened again. Ironically when I was fighting Malthael, this time the PSU failed completely and it won't start any more. I need to plug out the power cable and plug it back again to have any response from the power button pressed but all it does is wiggle the case fans and dies. I guess the power output is too low or some kind of short circuit occurs but I don't have the gear nor the technical knowledge to check that.

I guess a warranty covers such case?
Is there anything else I should try first?
I will get a temporary replacement for this PSU tommorow so I'll post the results then.

And the real reason I'm posting on the forum:
I tried to register my PSU EVGA NEX650G 120-PG-0650-GR on the EVGA website but it wont recognise my serial number. I still have all original cables and the box, it was ordered from a web store so the invoice won't be a problem either.

I get following error on the registration site:
Serial Number not found : Please contact customer support at SupportEU@evga.com or call us at +49.89.189.049.11 from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM CET.

So I've sent an email there but no reply for the past 2 days.

Any ideas what to do now?

Does your computer have a iGPU? If yes, try running off the iGPU with your dedicated graphics card removed from the system to see if the system will boot or not.

Double and triple check that you're putting in the correct serial number.

Hello Vulper and welcome to the Forums!

I was able to find your email and I have registered the serial number to your account for you. If you are going to be able to test with the spare PSU or with the iGPU then please let me know the results. I will get an RMA started for you if needed.

Just PM me if you have any questions!

If you have a moment, please rate my service. We appreciate the feedback!

Thank you very much for a quick reply.

I removed my GTX 780 and run the PC with the iGPU. Surprisingly it booted and did run for a good few hours until it failed again and won't start anymore.
I installed new PSU and everything is working so far.

Thank you Joseph for registering my product.
I guess at this point I will proceed with the RMA.

I have also had random restarts with no warning, I recently had a bad video card and you guys wanted to know voltage for warranty, all checked out so replaced video card but still had restarts.  To make a long story short I have replaced everything (Motherboard, processor, memory and Video card) still restarts.  My power supply is 120-G10650-XR and it was purchased on 10/26/2015, going to swap it out with a new power supply and see what happens.  Will let you know!

I actually forgot to post how my temporary setup looked like with an old PSU.
It has just 4pins out of 8 on the motherboard so I connected just 4.
There are not enough cables (or power) to power the GTX 780 and the cables aren't even long enough to mount the PSU at the bottom of the case.
Motherboard cried during first boot, but booted anyway without issues and it works :)
I copied anything I needed from the HDD and now it's waiting for the replacement. 3.5 HDD does not fit into my external HDD case and USB would not provide enough power anyway so I used this opportunity to do this.

What do you think? Should I try Diablo3 and push GR100 on my Hardcore Seasonal Wizard with this setup? Or is it too hardcore?

I happily report that I received replacement PSU from EVGA.
It's the EVGA 650 GQ I wish it was the G3 but ohh well.
At first I was disappointed that it is not fully modular like the old one. I also didn't like the new cables design: flat, thick and stiff. I wanted to stick with the old ones but I decided to give them a try.
    After few minutes I discovered:
    1. the non-modular part is just the motherboard power section so I will never need to detach this anyway.
    2. flat cables actually are way easier to lay and manage inside the case.
    I'm amazed!
Only problem I had was the stiffness. My HDD's are sideways and there is little space for the cables to bend so I had to use some force to close the side panel.
I'm very happy how my case looks inside now, it feels more aesthetic.

Now the next part surprised me. With the old PSU I couldn't push my 4670k past 4.4 and even at 4.4@1.23 it crashed sometimes. Higher voltage was too hot for my cooler, I figured the chip is just bad and no point investing in better cooling. So I kept it at 4.3@1.22.
With the new PSU out of curiosity I tried bumping the multiplier to 44 and just leaving the 1.22v for now.... but it's stable. I guess the chip is not that bad after all, it looks like the old PSU was busted from the start. Luckily it died before killing anything else.

I feel like giving this CPU a second life at 4.5 with EVGA water cooling. Already ordered the new EVGA CLC 280. Fingers crossed it arrives before Christmas.

Thank you EVGA team for an extraordinary customer support.
I guess EVGA will be my new favourite company :)

OK... the PSU from RMA died, but this time it took my motherboard as well :(
Now whenever I connect the PSU to power it instantly pops my fuses, even before I turn on the power on the motherboard, even without anything connected to the PSU.
If I turn the fuses back on quick enough I can turn on the power but just the fans turn, but not even the debug led's light.

I guess EVGA PSU's are just not my thing. At least the CLC is great, hope it still works.
