Concerns & Problems
Currently experiencing GPU temps of up to 75c and 80c while playing video games such as Naval Action etc & CPU Temps reaching 50c and 60c while playing video games such as Naval Action etc. I am using CAM and AIDA64 for reading CPU & GPU temps etc. Also motherboard temps are hitting 40c to 50c while gaming as well sometimes 55c at times.
Currently my PC is located next to a window in my den. Temps outside are roughly -13c to -25c depending on the time and the day. Although my biggest worry is for when summer comes. I run no heat in this room or in my house currently other then the bedrooms so the room stays pretty cold for the most part although the computer seems to heat the room up a lot throughout the day. Also for about 4 or 5 months now i've been hearing a random click or tick kind of noise coming from the back part of the computer. I did a health check on my SSD and HDD's nothing seems to be wrong. I just cleaned out my system today to check if perhaps a wire or something could be Arcing or causing some kind of problem or even touching a fan randomly and i've not found anything that could be doing that.
I personally don't know exactly what are safe temps for my system i am but a network admin i don't do much hardware stuff in my day and considering im retiring soon i don't need my current rig crapping out on me right now if you know what i mean. I've been doing my own research on all of this and about the ticking/clicking noise people seem to keep pointing out PSU's dying although i don't seem to experience any type of power problems currently. Anyways if someone could help me figure this all out and maybe point out safe PC temps for Idle and while gaming so i don't keep freaking out randomly and worrying that would be great!

    And your Room Temperature?
Photos show good Air Flow, But it looks like the back of the Computer is against the Wall?
Give yourself at least 6-8 Inches of Free Space behind the Computer.
What fans are in the Front of the case lower at the level or lower than the GPU?

Well as i said in the last post i don't heat my home and its -1c outside. So the house is a little warmer then outside but not by much so i would say perhaps +3c to +5c MAX inside the house and in my den that i do my streaming from the door is always closed and the PC is next to a very old school so where the PC is located is the coldest part of this small room. By small i mean all i could fit in this room is a desk, a chair, and a book case. I barely fit in here haha! also here is a screenshot of my idle temps while i have been talking on the forums.

If you read the very first post i posted i included a list of all my PC specs and fans. There are no fans facing the front although the fan on the lower which is listed in the first post
I will take a quick photo of the room and where the PC is located etc. Although could you please tell me if my temps are okay or not like am i at risk of anything etc?

    Don't worry about it.
Can you set the computer to the Right side on that small table on the right side where the Pepsi Can is?
This would give the Side and back of the Computer clear air intake.
The Side of the Case looks block by the Monitor and close enough that it may be pulling in the heat of the Monitor into the computer.
I see what you mean about the Front.

Yeah the front of this case is such a pain to clean when it comes that time.. Takes forever!!! Although yeah as you can see IDLE temps are 32c for CPU and 33c for GPU although when im playing a game and on discord like Naval Action or something my GPU Temps go up to 60 and 75c which is my concern. Like i need to know what is to high when it comes to GPU and CPU temps for my rig so that way i dont kill it lol.

Also that ticking noise i have no clue what it could be i've checked everything and my SSD and HDD's are running healthy as hell! So what it could be i have no clue but its coming from the rear of the PC -.-

"GPU Temps go up to 60 and 75c" and that is ok for that card.
Have you removed the GPU and given I a good Blowing out (Hold the Fans From Moving)?
Maybe time to re-TIM the GPU as well, MX-4 is what I would recommend.
Are you using a Fan Profile or setting the GPU fans to around 60% and are your Temps still hitting 75C?
Do you use PXOC or XOC or MSI AB?
I would try and stay below 80-85C but the max is 90C
At lease you have a Windows for the Summertime to put in a Window Air Conditioner.

I just did that all today actually. I took all the fans out cleaned every one of them bit by bit using damn Q-Tips and Air etc! I spent 2 hours cleaning it because it was so dusty. Then i removed the GPU and gave that a really good clean considering what i have at home right now its as clean as i got it when i bought it. So everything is cleaned out and proper.

Also when im playing Naval Action my temps start slowly going up then idle around 65c for my GPU then randomly it will go up to 75 and 80c while gaming but then as soon as i make port ingame my temps go back down to say 60 to 65c and when i close the game the GPU idles between 30c and 40c in the current weather condition etc.

This is what my current fan curve is set to in order to get the temps i am getting.
My temps were a bit higher before i changed the curve to this.

Again tho the temps only go high when gaming but then again i play video games from 3pm to 1am and sometimes 3am or 4am. I'm recently retired so i get lots of game time now haha.
Also yes thats straight i only get up for the bathroom or to eat etc.

Maybe then before this coming summer you change the TIM on your Graphics Card.
But other than that your computer looks ok.
I would wait for other Forum Members to post what they think.

Alright cool ill see what others say then also but yeah sounds good. I just wanted to make sure that my system isnt going to kill its self. Been getting worried lately. I dont have disposable income as i only make 22K a year now on pension and i need to keep this thing working as much as i can and upgrade it when i can afford it.

some games can load a card to run hotter  70-80 c range  at max use  / load   is a normal average

now your room air temps will affect things as well    cant expect the rooms air temp to be 80   and have it to air cool the card to 65   so the colder the room air temps are the cooler these parts run  due to colder air to circulate  and dissipate heat

could look up threads as this on that one game

    [naval action]
    http://forum.game-labs.net/topic/10265-high-gpu-temperature-only-in-this-game/

    like said here
''I'll add that, effectively, OP has said that this problem happens in all games, it just happens faster in Naval Action - which makes sense as NA is not yet optimized ''

that can add added stress  that can help to heat up the card    poorly optimized  means more work on the card to render things smooth

    http://forum.game-labs.net/topic/2481-fast-gpu-overheating-leading-to-gfx-glitches/

if me  you pic of you rig looks nice open and clean   so   I would grab hwinfo64  to monitor   then grab 3dmark firestrike   run the basic  1080p  bench 3 times  then look at the  hwinfo chart  of readings    and see what the card is doing   max min and average   temps fan speeds , ect...

then post that screenshot here to look over  .

    [HWINFO64 ]
    https://www.hwinfo.com/

firestrike  [where I got mine . but you can get from where you want ]
    https://www.techpowerup.com/download/futuremark-3dmark-timespy/

try that and post the results from hwinfo64    [for a example ]

    Re: EVGA Geforce GTX 970 FTW+ ACX2.0 Temps & More !!HELP!! 2018/01/11 01:52:48 (permalink)
Alrighty sounds good. I personally use AIDA64 Extreme, CAM, HWMonitorPro and then Catzilla for Benchmarking. I just wanted to see if those temps are normal when gaming etc. I'm just trying to keep my system running without any real repairs or major maintenance for a long period of time. I am looking into saving up for a new GPU coming in november of 2018. I'm not really looking to upgrade my ram from DDR3 to DDR4 for a long time because my i7 4790k runs really good on the setup i have currently and unless i really have to buy a new board i don't see a point in switching to DDR4 etc etc etc. :)

Although do you happen to know what could be causing this ticking noise? Maybe i can record my PC doing it and then upload it to my website etc or post it up on youtube to show you perhaps someone can help me try to figure this out because i've checked everything and i can't seem to find the source.
Originally i thought oh its just one of my HDD's failing whatever but then i checked and no.. my HDD's are perfectly fine everything is smooth no data transfer problems etc. So then i put my ear up to the system when the noise happens which by the way can be from every 30 to 45mins to every hour to 2 hours its random as hell..  anywho it comes from the back end of the PC mainly it seems. I can't tell really what it could be or if its something that needs attention right away before something really bad happens or if its something that isnt a huge concern.

I checked to see if anything could be causing an Arc but couldnt find anything. and as you can see i wire managed pretty damn good considering my system is all fans etc i mean the system is cleanly done so i don't think its a wire that could be hitting a fan randomly. I'm just very concerned at this point and i don't trust the local shops here we have only 2 shops in this town and both have been known to scam customers out of product hence i only buy from newegg and ive been building my own rigs for the last 11 years now.

Also if it helps this noise only started happening about 6 to 7 months ago and i've had this build now for almost 2 years. I run my system for 12 to 15 hours per day (("yes i dont sleep >.<")) anyways i don't see any issues while gaming or doing things on the PC never do i get crashes etc the rig runs GREAT! i just am concerned because noises arent usually a good thing. Although again its been doing this click/tick noise now for a good 6 months straight for sure.

well i think that catzilla is a malware   i tried it and got to noticing  suspect things  and removed it  and them things went away with it  ????  don't know ?

thing is using something that's a stress test that can and will  run a part up till it crashes or fails  and can a lot of overheating  of them parts  or just plain cause damage  .

something like basic  firestrike  should give you normal like everyday use  runs   you hardware should run as normal and expected

ticking noise ??  can be anything from a wire dropping in to a fan  or like you say a hard drive going bad  ?   that's something your going to need to pin point the part its coming from  .  a lot of these cards with that was due to the fan wire dropping in to the fans blade at a certain speed  or airflow draw , just adjust the wire fixes that .  or the screws of the fan mounting to the cooler bracket  [3 small ones  just under the blades ]   can loosen and cause the fan to clip the shroud  ?? or a fan got a bad bearing/ dry ?   some fans got a service plug  on the bottom under sticker to use to put a drop of lube in
    http://www.overclockers.com/em-spinning-lubricate-pc-fans/

now some fans don't have this as well and  non serviceable  [ you could get messy and use wd40 with its tube  to try to squirt up and around the impeller hub of the fan  ??]

75C-80C is pretty normal for a 970. Trying setting the fan curve to be 72% at about 60C. That should give you a head start in keeping system temps down over a longer period of time. Also like many others said, you can try re-applying thermal compound, which can definitely help at least to some margin. Though I must say for a single GPU system using the ACX 2.0 Cooler, i'd expect slighty lower temps. Other then that, clean all system fans, make sure air-flow is high n tight, and see where that lands.
