so i turned rebar on and it didnt really make any difference on port royal.  I am starting to think 15k wont be doable with my card.  Maybe my card is not that good.

Thoughts??

Hitting 15K or higher on PR was the holy grail for 3090s. Not hitting it doesn't mean you have a bad / dud card.

Oh Okay. I was going over some benchmark scores online and I see that you are correct.  Actually my card seems to be above average from scores people are getting.  Just not holy grail like you said.

ReBar will make a difference if it's really forced on. Try forcing it globally. I had to do that on one machine.

How do you force Rebar on? Through Nvidia Inspector?

Yes, Nvidia Profile Inspector. There are 3 entries under "unknown" that you have to set. There is a button at the top to turn on the unknown section.

I have received a rev 1.0 board thanks to New World.  I started seeing a power draw limit ~450W while benchmarking.

I'm noticing that on TechPowerUp's download page, the BIOS that came on the replacement card is listed under:
FTW3 ULTRA V2

The BIOS I'm seeing recommended here (94.02.42.80.27) is for:
FTW3 ULTRA

Are there concerns crossing the streams and using the rev 0.1 BIOS on a 1.0 board?

I would also like to know this as well.  ONly way to hit the 500w tdp is with Vbios  94.02.42.80.27  not with the FTW Ultra V2 Vbios.  Would this void my warranty?

So I just got the updated PCB 1.0 revision. It’s having a difficult time overclocking. Is this due to the bios they have on there? I can barely hit +900 memory clock and +160 core clock. After that it crashes. My .1 card performed better.

I just received my replacement revision 1.0 3090.  Can somebody provide a link to the correct bios that works with this revision to get the full 500 watts?

Which Bios did you flash? Did you have any issues flashing the old bios?

How did you hit the 500 watts? Did you flash the old bios onto this card? Mine only hits around 430. It's actually worse than my .1 card.

Just thought I'd pop back in here to mention how my 4th , yes 4th EVGA 3090 FTW3 Ultra just died. Via a remote session i attempt to install the drivers and apparently it cant find any compatible hardware , no display on any of my monitors and the ONLY way i can see my desktop is through a remote session.

Card has been under water since install and hasn't gone above 60c. Pissed doesn't even begin to cover it. 4 (soon to be 5) if i have to RMA it 1200+ dollar cards is a joke.

Of note, you are posting this in the XOC Beta BIOS thread. If you are using this Beta XOC BIOS on all of your failed cards, you might want to consider a different BIOS next time with a lower power limit. Does a lower power limit really make a significant difference for whatever application you are using it for?

yes it does if the bios is killing their flagship cards they probably shouldn't have released it. Especially if it's killing this many cards , which is why I suspect it has nothing to do with the beta bios (and my current card has the upgraded voltage controller that was added to mitigate the initial issues the evga 3090's were having.

Re: EVGA GeForce RTX 3090 FTW3 XOC BIOS BETA 2022/01/04 04:52:58 (permalink)
So I've skimmed the first half of this thread and read all of the second half. A lot to take in.

I've got a 2114 b-stock card on water now with the 94.02.42.80.27 bios and rev 0.1 board. It's been a good card so far, seems to clock decently. 14845 on Port Royal with 5° water. With power maxed stays at around 420-430 watts with spikes as high as 445. Pulls 74 at the slot as reported in GPU-Z, so over spec as others have pointed out. But I'm ok with that.

So all this is fine but I recently added capacity to my cooling with the intent to run the full 500 or 520 watt bios. I'm wondering if I should just be happy as it is or if it's actually a ticking time bomb anyway.

I have 3 other ftw3 ultras at my disposal. I could bench each one on air and see which one clocks highest and allows the most power draw, then swap the blocks.

Does anybody know anything yet about the 2110 cards? What does that indicate? The other cards I have are as follows:

2114 rev 0.1 purchased 02/2021 from retail store
2110 rev 1.0 purchased 09/2021 from EVGA
2114 rev 1.0 purchased 11/2021 from retail store

All NVIDIA cards have a potential issue caused by NVIDIA's decision to use average power limiting. Average power limiting is unable to detect and prevent peak power spikes. This is especially an issue when the product is a capable of high power consumption, with a high power limit, operating close to the max capability of the reference design's VRM. This is especially, especially an issue because NVIDIA's reference design decided to essentially disable the VRM's hardware-based protection (probably because it was triggering too often and would annoy people).
This is labeled as a Beta BIOS. It is not officially NVIDIA approved and may cause issues.
The warranty allows you to keep killing cards using this BIOS, but is the time and expense worth it to you?
This BIOS won't necessarily kill your card, but it certainly increases the chances.

I was kind of thinking this myself. It seems unlikely that 4 cards die from EVGA. My guess...something else in the system is making this a bigger problem. Maybe it's because you are using water cooling and think you can push it super hard or maybe the PSU or mobo is causing an issue. 4 cards is A LOT. I would start checking elsewhere in your system to be honest...don't just keep putting video cards in there and breaking them. I know it's easy to blame EVGA and their card and I know it's frustrating that your very expensive GPU is dying but that doesn't necessarily mean it's the GPU's fault.

well its a XOC bios. (xtreme over clocking) its not meant to be as safe as the 450 watt bios. its for people to push the card past its safe parameters.
