Anyone else get a message while doing the 500w BIOS update that says: "No display adapters were found that are compatible with this update" ??

That happens when you’re flashing the wrong bios. Make sure you’re flashing FTW ultra to a ultra card and FTW regular to a regular card.

Wait, and what 500w bios? This is the bios thread for the 450w for the 3080 bro. 500w is for 3090’s Are you sure you’re in the right place?

I set my overclocks and completely X out of PX1
Otherwise performance tanks
You can close it out and your fan speed and overclocks will remain

Might be the wrong place...the 450w update worked like a charm...
...but the 500w update still mentions it's for the 3080 and 3090 FTW cards...
and i have the 3080 FTW3 Ultra...

I'll go looking for the other thread...

Where have you read the 3080 update is 500w?? It’s 450w. The 500w is for the 3090 bro. I think you’re trying to flash the wrong bios to your card, make sure man.

Each card has its own thread and bioses. You got that message because you were trying g to flash the wrong bios to whatever card you have.

Precision X1 is a resource vampire, don't leave it open in the background.

Having it minimized to the system tray seems to be OK.

Weird, didn't experience this in my 2080ti.

just finished my port royal benchmarks,
here it is with updated bios (12708)

core+177 memory+1211
core result is similar (i have done +182 before ) but can push memory much higher (was +998 before although memory didnt affect score that much +12)
but core is much stable @ higher clocks than before, improving the score

I gave up on trying to overclock my 3080 ftw ultra. Did the bios update on OC switch. I can run my bench marks at 115+ clock (120 crashes on time spy all the time), and I’ve gotten my memory up to the 800-900 range. However, when I try running Witcher 3 on OC settings, game constantly crashes. Tried under clocking my clock and memory but kept crashing. Spend hours upon hours. I have a very aggressive fan curve setup to (fans 100 percent at 70 degrees). I flipped switch back to normal and Witcher runs fine.

I’m thinking it’s an overheating issue on GPU and so that is why game crashes. It just crashes to desktop , so I can easily just do stuff again on my PC. One time it froze computer and I had to hard reset.

Specs:

I9 9900k overclocked to 5GHz (overclocked using switch on motherboard).
Corsair vengeance pro 64 GB DDR 4 3200 (set to XMP in bios...auto overclock?)
msi godlike met z390 motherboard
EVGA 850 T2
Corsair 570x case
Nmve 970 , 960 nmve
EVGA nu audio card
Alienware 3420 ultra wide
Logitech g502 hero
Razer hunts man elite
3 Corsair LL fans in front full speed.
Corsair h100i RGB platinum 240 cooler installed up top shooting air out (exhaust), and one ll 120 exhaust in back at full speed.

I even have tried the scan auto overclock with mixed results. First time I tried it it said do a 90 clock and only 200 memory. Second time it said do 124 clock and 0 memory, third time it said 120 clock and 0 memory. Seems to be bugged.

I don't understand what's happening.  So I tried downloading and flashing the two bios(Normal and OC) into this new one for the 450W.  I tried overclocking my 3080 FTW3 Ultra to +125 clock and +630 mem and was having issue trying to run port royal.  When I was able to get it run, the maximum power draw that's being recorded in GPU-Z is 418W.  Can someone explain what is going on here?  Am I missing something?  I have 3 single PCIe cables connected to the graphics card and I have a 1000W EVGA G5 PSU.

Are you maxing out the voltage slider?  Is that overclock actually stable?  What "PerfCap" reason are you seeing in Port Royal?  For my run, it's mostly VRel/VOp which is voltage-related, not power limit... but I did also hit the suposed "power limit as well" a few times:

That's at +150/+800... so it's entirely possible your OC is simply not hitting power limit on the card yet.  I know when I was running +130/+800 I didn't get power limit PerfCap hardly at all the whole test, and max draw was around 433W.

I tried maxing out the voltage to 100% in PX1.  Someone also mentioned leaving it at 0 so now I'm confused about what to believe.  For some reason, I'm able to run benchmarks(timespy & port royal) 100% of time when the voltage is at 0, though.  PerCap reason I only see is "Idle".  So if you're +130/+800 wasn't hitting power limit, does that mean my +125/+630 is a very conservative OC and there's more I can squeeze out of this card before it shows instability?

Hi,
I installed the 450W beta BIOS on my 3080 FTW3 Ultra and it's able to maintain 2205MHz in Port Royal. Video card is on a open bench at 100% fans speed (21C ambient). My highest score is: 13 205

Here's a video of my settings:

EDIT: For some reason links are not showing. Any idea?

It's really a silicon lottery question I think.  Some people are having issues getting over +100 "stable".  And I'm not even 100% sure my +130 (which I think actually boosts to +135) is stable, I haven't run it for extended periods in actual usage, the most I've run for gaming is +100, and I actually ended up using mostly "stock" with a -10% Power Target modifier, which resulted in cooler temps, while still boosting to around 1980MHz most of the time, due to the lower temperature.
If you're not seeing any PerfCap reason other than Idle, you definitely have more headroom.
The Voltage Silder thing I think is glitchy, and as a result, some people are seeing better results with 0, some people are seeing better results with it maxed out.  I would try both and see which gives you better results, but it sounds like your card prefers 0.
+130/+800 on my card tickles the power limit on occasion but doesn't constantly hit it, in most tests it's giving VRel/VOp most of the test, with little sprinkles of Pwr popping up from time to time, and in some less-stressful tests, no PerfCap reason comes up because the GPU isn't being pushed fully.
If you want to really stress test an OC and insure it's actually fully stable for gaming usage, I would recommend running a mixture of Port Royal on a loop, Superposition on a loop, and one or two others, maybe TimeSpy regular & something else.  Wouldn't use Furmark or a power-virus type workload as there's no real point in doing that, since the newer cards have safety features that prevent full boost clocks in Furmark unless that's changed this generation, and it thereby isn't a good stability test.
Anything you're running as a "stress test" should be ran for at least an hour imo, some people go pretty extreme & run stress/stability testing for a full day still.

Re: EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 (3897) XOC BIOS BETA 2020/10/25 21:54:30 (permalink)
I did a lot of testing with the 3080 FTW3 Ultra in Time Spy and Port Royal. For me, i got better scores upping the memory clock a bit, at the expense of some core speed.

I'd try +120 core, 0 memory, which amounts to 2100mhz on the core clock.
Then i'd do +115 core, +200 memory and get a better score.

I my actual highest score was from +110 core, 500 memory, but... i thought maybe in real games and video editing i might be better off just going with a higher core, slightly slower memory.

I'd get crashes if i tried to sneak much more than that. It was like a give and take between core and memory.

I'm a total noob to all this, honestly. But these are my findings after running those benchmarks over and over with slight adjustments.

I think i'll stick with +115 core and +200 memory.
Which amounts to 2085mhz and 10002mhz

To anyone wonder if your chip is golden sample or not ( easy way to guarentee 2100+ )

Just undervolt it with .900mV and go as high as you can. I would say if your chip able to do 2000+ on .900mV, pretty much u got good chip and u should now start overclock benchmarks.

This Bios is really weird. Can someone share the original bios?

I got with old bios with the exact same settings in x1 and fans 19250 timespy score.
Now I get only 18.000, sometimes 17600??

Settings are +700mem +140 core +0mv Voltage 105% PT
When I set 118% PT score get much worser.
In all tests I have 50°C avg temp of gpu.

Yea I'm in a similar boat, this bios simply doesn't work with my system. Scores, overclocks and stability are all higher using the original bios.

Please review my post about the voltage slider on the previous page.

Without allowing the card to increase core voltage, you are not likely to be stable at higher clocks.

So the new XOC BIOS doesn't allow you to get higher voltage?
During rendering I think that's what is my limiting factor, because Im well under TDP for the stock BIOS.

I'm at +225 on Core and +1700 on Memory giving me 2235Mhz @ 254.2W
If I go any higher the render will crash. I'm well under total power envelope and temps are golden... but I'm hitting VREL/VOP at that point.

If the XOC wont give me anymore in the voltage area, i don't see any point for me to bother with it.

If I go any higher the render will crash. I'm well under total power envelope and temps are golden... but I'm hitting VREL/VOP at that point.

If the XOC wont give me anymore in the voltage area, i don't see any point for me to bother with it.

Voltage adjustment hasn't been a thing they've allowed for generations on official BIOSes as far as I know, outside of KP cards.  You'd need a K|ngp|n or unlocked BIOS, or to physically volt mod the card, to get that.
I've seen the same, about 80% of the time if I'm hitting a PerfCap reason it's VRel/VOp and not Pwr now.
Still wish they'd release a 525W BIOS cuz that's what the card could actually handle with the plugs it has on it + the PCIe slot :-P  But I doubt we'll get an official one like that, at some point someone will release a BIOS that can do it though.
Given that people are undervolting & still hitting 2000-2100MHz boost in most instances, I think the "max voltage" you can get by maxing out the voltage slider for the extra +100mV still has more headroom than ~2200.
Easiest way to find that out for sure would be to find someone that's power modded the card by shunt modding the power connectors so it can pull "infinite power" almost, and seeing where they max out WITHOUT messing with any volt-modding... problem is most people that do one, do both, because they're going LN2 & trying to hit world records.

Core clocks only go up in 15 mhz increments.
So depending on what your default clocks are set to the offsets will be +15/30/45/60/70/90/105/120, etc.
You should have absolutely no difference between +115 and +110.
Check it with MSI Afterburner with "Maximum performance" set in the Nvidia control panel so the card is always at boost clocks, and you'll see where the steps occur at.

downloaded and installed Beta BIOS - why does precision X try to update my firmware everytime I try to run the program?  I have the proper 3080 FTW OC Beta BIOS and Precision X1 version 1.1.0.11 installed.

If I go one version older to 1.1.0.9 - it works fine.  Weird.

Because bios and firmware are two different things. The "bios" in this thread is for the power limit (and generally are for things like clock speeds etc), the "firmware" that PX1 is trying to update is for the MCU controller, mainly for things like fan speeds, behaviour, LED's etc. They are two different things altogether.

that makes a ton of sense, thanks!

does precision x allow you to view gpu utilization?  i can't find a way to toggle that on and off.
does the OSD not work as well as afterburner?  it works fine for me in warzone, but i cannot get it to work in tarkov.  AB worked in both for me.

thanks for the help.  getting acclimated. :)

3080ftw ultra is a beast!

Hello all

After many benchmarks this was my maximum score on Port Royal :

I went from 1000 Mem / 200 Clock (12220 Port Royal) to 500 Mem / 200 Clock (12427 Port Royal) which is very interesting. I installed the 450W OC Bios on the GPU and hit Vrel during benchmarks.

I'm quite happy with the results knowing that I'm using an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X and air cooling.

MB : MSI X570 TOMAHAWK
CPU : Amd Ryzen 7 3700X - PBO enabled (Enhanced Mode 3)
CPU Cooler : Noctua NH-D15
GPU : EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3
PSU : Seasonic Focus 850W Plat
RAM : 16Gox2 3200Mhz

Quite funnily enough, this score is just in the top 100 for 3700X + RTX 3080 :

Not the best, but not bad either I suppose.

will there be a new bios update with higher power limits for XC3 Ultra as well?

Thanks!

Apparently I'm #9 on the 9900K/3080 chart O_o that's crazy to me:

Well, technically speaking, I'm 4th, because 1-5 is one guy & 7/8 are the same guy as well. lol

And almost everyone above me has a higher CPU/GPU clock.  I think I could actually get #1 if I did some system optimizations to further limit what's going on in the background... it's only 200 pts away lol
