I am having a rather weird problem with my desktop and any advice would be appreciated.

I set up my desktop last year and it has been working perfectly fine for the last year, however for the last month my HDMI port has stopped working. I started using my display port which works perfectly fine, but every time I restart or switch on my computer I need to restart a minimum of 3 times before the display port gets a signal from the desktop. Once it does the display is perfectly fine and doesn't glitch or have any scaling issues.

The problem started after I moved the desktop from my home to my studio, but i have done it multiple times over the last year and it has never had such a problem.
I have tried multiple monitors and hdmi cables, but my laptop connects perfectly well with them; not my desktop.

Sounds like the hdmi output on your card is toast since the hdmi cables work fine with your laptop. Is your display port cable vesa certified?

    • Blow the HDMI port out with compressed air
    • Warranty?
    • Alternatively if the solder joints are cracked and you're not willing to pay EVGA for a OoWR, you could have a friend or electronics shop re-flow the solder on the HDMI port or replace it completely (this is assuming the chip controlling it is still good).

    Hi,
See if removing and reinstalling the card helps.
I never use hdmi and display ports have always been hit and miss
Most reliable is dvi port if it has any issues rma but then again if the issue is not resolved with r&r then rma is best.

Especially if it acts the same using a different monitor and using the dvi port.

    My first build,
Case 450D/ ASUS Sabertooth X99/ 5930k with EK mono block / Water loop EK 280p-GTX240 radiators with D5 pump res combo before rads and D5 top after / Trident-Z 3200C14 4x8gb/ EVGA 1000 P2/ EVGA 1080ti FTW3 with EK copper water block.

    2nd build,
    Case D450/ ASUS x299 Prime Deluxe/ i9-7900x delidded with EK mono block/ Trident-Z 3600C16 4x8gb/ Water loop EK-280p-GTX240 radiators with D5 pump-res combo before rads and D5 top after/ EVGA 1200 P2 / Titan Xp with EK water block.

There is a firmware update from Nvidia for your Displayport - that may fix the stuttering issue and restarts you have to do

    Good Luck!
