Hello everyone,

We wish to thank all of the mods and admins for making our gaming servers successful for events and everyday gaming for the past several years. Unfortunately due to the recent trend of games not allowing for publicly hosted game servers, we will be closing them for the foreseeable future. EVGA wishes to thank all the players and admins for their contribution, and look forward to future new and exciting events involving our community.

Yep, lack of any real, meaningful dedicated servers anymore for the newer games,  makes it pretty hard to manage in the way that is required.

It's been a fun ride these past 6 or so years for me.
Many thanks to EVGA for all that they do and for allowing us to have so much fun on the servers over the years.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags!
The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. When you abuse it, it reverses on you and it hurts you.The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

Some still play those older games. Newer games do have dedicated servers, for example: https://store.steampowere.../Insurgency_Sandstorm/
    and https://store.steampowered.com/app/393380/Squad/
    https://squad.gamepedia.com/Dedicated_server

finally a signature without that associate code

I'm surprised they kept the game servers up this long. EGC has been dead for like 5 years. It was a fun ride from 2008-2014, back when we had an active community.

Looks like they are down now.  Tried to play CSGO ,  but no connection.  Playing through Steam sucks as they have a lot of jerks and youngsters there.  Always met nice gamers on EVGA servers,  at least they acted adult.

The last time I read news this sad it was after the last U.S. Presidential election.

I have played on the BF4 servers ever weekend it seems like forever. Around 2009 I guess. Gumby, G0MER, Knightviper, I've missed you guys for a long time recently (and others) because we've not had a gaming event in a long time. Now I'm heartbroken to realize it's all gone. I am so dumbstruck over this decision but it is what it is. Maybe we can get together on another sever. God we have had some great cursing & drinking nights and long drawn-out battles texting, chatting and charging the front line.

I'd also like to extend my gratitude to the server moderators that banned me and gave another chance over and over again. I couldn't help it that I passed out sometimes or went out on the back porch for a puff of happy smoke and forgot what I was doing. Really enjoyed out messages and conversations, especially you BizSAR.To you and all the other moderators, thanks for all the good times and all the bad times. It was a hell of a ride while it lasted.

The writing was on the wall for years, but it was good while it lasted. EVGA gaming events were tops although there were pains with cheaters it was overall good fun. Loved playing on your Battlefield servers for years. Won a ton of stuff from gaming events and a big thanks to EVGA and all of the other sponsors for doing it.

Agreed. I was a server administrator for a W:ET Shrub low gravity, fast recharge server and it was hilarious and absolute havoc. ET was as fun as it got back then with custom maps and setting flexibility.

Another fantastic game I played back then with a multiplayer mod was GTA:SA MTA with map maker. Modes you could make was cops and robbers, etc. Not being able to get out of your vehicle and no weapons was sooo fun.

I recorded this. I was also an administrator on a fun server back then.

Wolf:ET was one of the best MP games SplashDamage has ever made (IMO).
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars = Flop and poorly supported
    BRINK = FLOP
    Dirty Bomb = Flop

SplashDamage charged full price for ET:QW, while making ad revenue by placing real Ads on billboards in-game. On Ranked servers they could change the Ads. They would monitor how much time people spent looking at the billboards. That caused me to cancel my pre-order of ET:WQ.

You could rent a 1-2 core VDS for like $12-20 a month to host a Wolf:ET server if you wanted.

    Planned obsolescence
Making games people play for years is counter productive to the shareholder bottom line. It's why the vast majority of games released any longer are completely forgettable and just unbridled hypetrain marketing. Mods have essentially been killed off and monetized by publishers as well.

Re: EVGA Game Servers - Update 2019/11/08 21:13:38 (permalink)
    Recap:

I loved W:ET back in the day. I was a gaming administrator on a low gravity, fast recharge Shrub server a while back. We'd bind and spam !lol and !fling either on ourselves or others and sometimes set the gravity to high and fall to our deaths by stepping down half a foot, lmao.

Then, I played on Whosgaming's 64 player ETPub server until they threw in the towel. Both were a blast and the game had high replay value.

I too suggest these older games for game servers to set up. I'd play even though I work six days a week, lol.

Let's bring back the fun in these older but addictive games with their dedicated servers.

    W:ET (free game)
    Quake 2 or 3
    and then some...
