There has been quite a few people in uproar over the ACX designed cooler on the GTX 970 (and possibly GTX 980). This thread is for people who have bought a card, lets post some real world benches. Here are a couple of my runs:

My system as it is currently:
i5-2500K @ 4.0Ghz
Gigabyte P67-UD4
EVGA GTX 970 SC
8Gb DDR3 (1333Mhz)
Corsair AX850 power supply
Cooler Master 590 case

Current ambient temp: 70*F (according to the thermostat in the room)
*These tests were run with the stock configuration unless otherwise noted*
GPU idle temp: 27*C

Base Clock: 1164 Mhz
Boost Clock: 1317 Mhz
OC base clock: 1214 Mhz
Boost OC: 1442 Mhz
*Note* I did not test any higher overclocks than this, 1442 Mhz seems pretty beefy.

Metro Last Light Benchmark
DX11
1920x1080
Quality: Very High
Texture Filtering: AF 16x
Motion blur: Low
SSAA: None
Tesselation: Very High
Scene D6

I decided to give it a modest overclock. Update: I was able to make a successful run at 1522 Mhz, any higher and it crashed.
OC base clock: 1294 Mhz
Boost OC: 1522 Mhz
Max temp: 64*C
*Please note I increased the fan speed by 10% for this test.*
Here is a screenshot under load, please disregard the temp as it's not the maximum.

I chose Metro Last Light since I think it's one of the most demanding games available. I will run other benchmarks and monitor temps if you like. Hopefully this clears any doubt of a "defect" with these cards.

Thank you for creating this thread, since im stepping up from 770 SC to 970 ACX (not SC) im interested in seeing real results, i rather ignore internet drama.

970 ACX is supposed to be cooler than 770 SC ACX, right ? I ask this because my bedroom is quite hot and my 770 reaches 32ºC idle and 81ºC under full load.

Very nice writeup. Awesome temps with a great OC. Wish all of my GPUs were defective now.

Just tried ocing on Gigabyte Gtx 970. Tested different benchmarks game and let unigine valley run for 15 min on 1542 boostclock. So far seems stable using stock voltage.
Im deeply impressed so far very cool cant hear the cooler at all on auto mode. Havent seen it higher then 62/63c and i think room temperature is around 18/20 degrees.
Anyone has any similar results on stock voltage? I think im bit lucky

With your impressive overclocks, are you experiencing any coil whine?

No coil whine, just the whir of the fans. Coil whine is one of those luck of the draw things that has always affected video cards. My GTX 460 had bad coil whine when overclocked. It shouldnt have any impact on the performance or longevity of the card.

    I have an i7 2600k @ 4.4GHz, 16gb (4x4) 533MHz
    EVGA GTX 970 SC ACX SLI @ 1,165 / 1,735

    So here are my results..

    3dMark Fire Strike:

    11,703 (344.16 drivers went up to 11,802)

    Graphics Score - 14,027
    Physics Score - 10,948
    Combined Score - 5,472

    3dMark Cloud Gate

    16,150 (with 344.16 drivers)

    Graphics score - 22,792
    Physics Score - 7,996

What's funny is my ASUS GTX 780 DCU2 OC non SLI destroyed my 970 SLI scores..

    780 Run - Cloud Gate

    25,630

    Graphics score - 66,866
    Physics score - 8,115

I was expecting a higher score I guess?

I'm using this set up to game at 4k on the Asus PB287Q using Display Port 1.2 @ 60Hz

The benchmarks I ran last night (off the top of my head, I don't have the numbers in front of me)

Assume for these they're all at 3840x2160 with Ultra everything and AA turned on

    Grid Autosport - MSAA 4x -- 68fps
Batman: Arkham Origins - MSAA 4x -- 65fps (closer to 75 with no AA)
    Witcher 2 -- 62fps
    Battlefield 4 - Single Player -- Fluctuated between 45 and 60fps
    Dirt 3 --94
Metro: Last Light - Heavy Mission -- 45fps

Using Precision X, I keep the fan speeds as low as possible until 85C, at which point I have them spin up to 80% speed. During all of these tests I never once heard the fans spool up, and I was sitting in the mid 60's and 70's.

So basically what I'm getting at is my numbers seem to be very in line with what two of these cards can do in games, it just feels like my 3dmark scores are lower than I thought they should be.

Oh well. I'd rather have better performing games than a better performing 3dmark I guess.. heh.

When I get home tonight I can run some more benchmarks if people are interested.

(to sum up, 970 SLI outperformed my OC 780 by a considerable margin in games.. just not in 3dMark)

The highest score I managed to achieve in Unigine Valley with my GTX 970 SSC ACX 2.0 is 4724 (stable).
    Settings:
    Ultra
    1920x1080 full screen
    AA off
    Overclock:
    Power Limit: 110%
    Core Clock: +120MHz
    Memory Clock: +300MHz
Core Voltage: +87mV (This is just to make sure I am testing the card at its full potential)

The max temp I got was 62C using a custom fan profile. The max fan speed used was 72%, which wasn't loud enough to be bothersome.

I will keep testing the card, as I am sure that I can still achieve slightly higher clocks for both the core and the memory.
