I have the subject GPU and it has been working fine for about a year in a ASUS M5A88 mobo which is running Win 10 Pro 64bit 8Gb RAM and Legacy BIOS (no UEFI).

I now want to move that GTX 950 GPU into an extra machine that is a P9X79-E-WS running Win 7 Pro 64 bit (16Gb RAM, UEFI boot and GPT SSD), which has been working fine for a couple of years first with a ASUS GT640, and recently as a spare machine with an old GT240 (neither of these uses were for gaming).

When installing the good GTX 950 into this P9X79 workstation I cannot get to the UEFI, or even see the POST - just black screen with message "no input".  Two different monitors were tried.  Taking the GTX 950 out and installing it in yet another PC (ASUS X99-E-WS, Win 7 Pro 64bit) it boots just fine.

I have tried (1) different 8 pin PCIe power cords from the PSU, (2) all three different outputs with (3) different output cords on the GTX 950.  The GTX 950 GPU has the latest vBIOS (installed in it.

Does the EVGA GTX 950 SCC support booting into UEFI or do I have to mess with all the Compatibility Settings Module in the ASUS Mobo UEFI?

The 950 should support both legacy & uefi.

Flash to the latest bios (1704) if the clear cmos doesn't help.

Nothing happened - black screen only (digital input reported on screen since I am using DVI) AND I purchased a new EVGA GTX1050Ti last night thinking it surely would boot. IT DIDN'T

I put the older GT 240 back in and everything is fine.  I DON'T GET IT!!

as an aside I ran Belarc thinking it would report the BIOS version of the P9X79 Mobo (it doesn't) BUT I did notice this note although to me it is a contradictory statement

Windows 10 Professional (x64) Version 1607 (build 14393.1198)
Install Language: English (United States)
System Locale: English (United States)
Installed: 2/7/2017 8:58:05 PM
Servicing Branch: Current Branch for Business (CBB)
Boot Mode: Legacy BIOS in UEFI (Secure Boot not supported)

Secure boot had previously been disabled and I save/deleted the four keys to a USB stick

Yep, older bios' do not support newer video cards. Seen it many times. Same for newer cpu's as well.

seen people running 10 series on 780i boards. pretty big age difference there.
