Hey everyone,

Posting here in the hopes someone can enlighten me about a very annoying and disturbing issue.

3600X
EVGA 1080 Ti FTW3 (still ~1y left of Warranty)
Seasonic Focus GX-750W Gold (not even 3 or 4 months old)

I started having a strange issue which I can't reproduce nor exactly pinpoint where it comes from, but I suspect it's the fan closer to the IO of the card since it's the fan with the highest usage since 0 RPM fan function on the other 2 fans.

Basically, this is it (video link doesn't work?)

https:// streamable.com /g7tawf

(remove spaces)

(warning headphone users beware)
Sometimes, the card will do crazy screeching noises like the ones in the video, it doesn't matter what the GPU load is, so it's not coil whine. In fact, this card produces no coil whine, and trust me, I know this since I also have a Vega 56.

I've tried to reseat the card, reseat power cables (2 different 8pin btw no daisy chain crap), remove motherboard speaker, remove audio outs, etc and nothing seemed to have fixed it. The only way, I think, I managed to sort of controll it is by having a custom fan curve on the first fan that basically keeps it at 35% minimum and since the card doesn't heat up at all (mid 50's), RPM doesn't fluctuate and doesn't cause as much screeching or if it does, it's not as high pitched or continuous.

Performance wise, the card has no issues, and works flawlessly so I believe it's not related to blowing caps or something similar but I still can't deal with this and having to use custom fan curvesand not let the card do it's thing is a bit annoying.

Any ideas?

Opened a ticket with EVGA EU, waiting on a reply so I can proceed to the RMA process.

But still wanted to know if anyone has experienced a similar issue.

Best to contact EVGA EU over the phone to ask that. This is primarily a user to user help forum, and AFAIK any EVGA tech that pops in here is US based.

    Thanks PeterN!

May I ask what kind of collateral will be asked for a 1080 Ti?

    Hi FC_89,

The collateral will be a temporary hold, there would not be a charge, however, this is for an Advanced RMA.  Regular Cross-ship RMA will be the MSRP of the product, new.

    Regards,
    Peter N

I don't understand something about this.

So, ADVANCED RMA, you send the card first, and I leave an open line of credit via PayPal or Credit Card as collateral.
Seems fair, since you're sending the card first.

NORMAL RMA, I have to send the card in first, PAY MSRP AS COLLATERAL and risk getting the card lost in transit, arrive damaged, and get warranty denied, and be left out of money for like 15 days?
Absolutely no way this is the way it works, am I reading something wrong?

Please elaborate because I might be too dumb to understand your terms.

    Hi FC_89,

To be sure there is the option for Advanced RMA (Credit Card hold) or Standard RMA (you send the product first, EVGA then sends the replacement).  I see there was no option for Cross-ship for you, however, it depends on region.

So, I got approved for an Advanced RMA, collateral is MSRP of the 1080 Ti new (819€) which is a bit absurd considering you don't send brand new replacements.

Anyway, my doubt is, you want 819€ collateral via PayPal, is this money going to be charged or just "reserved" from my account during the process?

Also opened a ticke because the RMA shipping label has my own address over your adress which I'm sure will cause issues at the post office since you can't read what's in there.

    Thanks

As was already posted, 'The collateral will be a temporary hold, there would not be a charge" Also unless you have PayPal credit, I would assume you cannot use PayPal for a CREDIT hold, you have to use a credit card.

Someone forward this to EVGA_EU please.
The RMA label they gave me is misprinted due to my large adress.

Can someone forward my poblem to EVGA_EU?
The shipping label they gave me for the RMA is incorrectly printed/misprinted and it will not work.

    Try sending EVGATech_PeterN a PM.
BTW, was that sent to you to print or as a label? If sent to you to print as a  PDF you might be able to reformat it. The UPC code is the most important thing.

I can't PM (no permission) and EVGA doesn't answer my emails...

I can't RMA the card and the label has an expiration date...
