Hello,

I own a EVGA GTX 1080 ti that I bought directly from this website. It works great but I'm noticing it gets some very faint blue flickers across the screen when gaming. It doesn't happen too often and other than that don't notice any other issues. The card runs pretty cool too, usually 60c and below.

Is this blue flickering something to be concerned about? I noticed it happening in the past week and I've had the card for a few months now at least. Please let me know.

Thank you,

Brian Shaw

Could be an unstable factory oc that is causing the issue. Do #4 listed here.

    Hello,

If the card is deteriorating after running 100% fine after a few months, is it still under warranty? What if the card keeps getting worse despite down clocking it?

    Yes.

You'll need to rma the card.

Ok, I'll see how it goes. Even with the periodic flickering I don't think there's any other issues. Don't think it's causing any performance drops or anything but I'll update if anything changes.

I seemed to have fixed the issue simply by re-seating the graphics card and blowing out all the dust built up on the card and in my PC. I also under-clocked the GPU ghz by a little but as well. Not sure which of these things really fixed it or it it was all of them. But it seems to be running just fine, no flickering.

    Hey Sajin,

One other thing though if you could help me, sometimes the GPU GHz sits at around 1500 during gaming. It's as if the graphics card thinks that's all that is needed. Usually it sits around 1900 ghz. I'm noticing some FPS loss because it's deciding to run at a slower speed than it should. Any ideas to fix this? Noticed this today.

Also notice when I stop gaming and am at the desktop, it doesn't downclock to a slower speed like before to save power. It stays the same speed as when I was gaming.

Enabling kboost inside precision xoc should keep the card pegged at 1900 while you're playing.

Here are the top causes of why a GPU would run at full clocks at idle...

#1 You're running multiple monitors. Fix: Enable mutil display power saver using nvidia inspector.
#2 Your machine has a virus. Fix: Scan computer using malwarebytes.
#3 One or more programs running in the background are using your GPU. Fix: Perform a clean boot of windows.
#4 Power management mode inside the nvidia control panel is set to prefer maximum performance. Fix: Set power management mode to adaptive then reboot your computer.
    #5 Running a resolution of 2560x1440 @ 144Hz. Fix: Change refresh rate to 120Hz.
#6 K-Boost is enabled inside Precision X. Fix: Disable K-Boost.
#7 Shadowplay is enabled inside geforce experience. Fix: Disable shadowplay inside geforce experience OR completely uninstall geforce experience from your machine (highly recommended)

What if I have a 165hz @ 2560x1440? Should I lower that as well? I use to play in g-syn mode but turned it off.

Yes, turn it down to 120Hz on the desktop.

    Hey Sajin,

Does the program video.ui.exe cause gtx 1080 tis to down clock during gaming? I swear if I don't end task this when I restart my PC that it causes it to do so.

Something is still causing my gtx 1080 ti to down clock during gaming and I am seeing a difference in FPS when it happens. I went to 120 hz, changed to max performance in nvidia settings, disabled shadow play, etc.

It shouldn't cause the card to downclock.
