I have just bought an Evga gtx 1080 ti sc2 used but in immaculate condition from fleabay as i could not wait any longer for new RTX 3 models to be in stock here in the UK. So here is my tale. I already had windows 10 pre loaded so just popped in my used GTX. Card was seen and worked so i thought lets use Evga X1 to over clock . Graphics driver was NVidia 461-92 so up to date. Well it ran to 2003 clock speed and 1003 mv voltage and it crashed out total without saving any data. Tried again with same results. I then reinstalled Windows 10 Pro and used DDU V10 to clean out the older version Nvidia driver Windows 10 installed. Installed Nvidia version 461-92 again and tried again. Same results it crashed out without saving any data. Tried 3 more times with same result. So now i had reinstalled Windows 10 Pro 4 times .So i reformatted my drive total and reinstalled Windows 10 Pro BUT this time i USED the Nvidia driver Windows 10 installed . Version 451 or thereabouts. I installed the Evga X1 again and this time it sailed through the tests. So my theory is there is a bug in the newer versions of drivers that stops X1 from running smooth to the point of crashing out. I have used DDU V10 to clean the old driver now and reinstalled version 461-92 after the tests and it works perfect . Card runs smooth and now faster . Took 2 days of my life to sort this out with help from forums. So hope this helps someone else.
