Ok here's my 2 cents. For those that know me I've been folding since 2009, I had the financial means to keep up with the latest technology. I had no problems dropping 7k on a rig. I didn't matter what he points were I had the rig to do it.
I've been out of folding seriously for two years now because I have a new family and I can't afford to keep up with technology, I'm lucky is I can upgrade every two years and I still can't get the latest greatest.
I stopped folding as much not because the bucks, because I just felt like I wasn't contributing much. Using all that power and not even making any of the tiers. My grandmother lost her battle with Alzheimer's and the motivation slipped away.
The people folding for the bucks are always just going to fold for the bucks, increasing the points too much is only going to eliminate the little guy like me that struggles to keep up. I do think a increase is fair but think about who it's going to affect.
Thank you again EVGA the program is excellent, we all know you don have to do this but we appreciate it.

Folding whatever I can :o)

I can't wait to see what the results of year 10 will be (I'm venturing here to say that there will be a year 10, but I think it's a fairly safe bet)

I'm hoping for something fairly interesting, but I doubt we'll learn what they decide to do for another month or so.

let's see if I can compile the different ideas here:

1. Max EVGA bucks increase from 10 to 12, to keep pace with inflation
2. a Third tier, possibly by a 4+4+4 system, or an extra entry into a contest (or both?)
3. Contest/prizes for those that fold that month, possibly with a minimum points/PPD total

and I thought of a new idea, something forum related.
I know that there is a EGC box you can check to show you are a member of of the EVGA gaming community on your profile, what about something like that for the forum/avatars, like an EDC (EVGA distributed computing, or maybe something more catchy)

For me, the motivation has never been about curing those who already have these diseases, but perhaps saving our children / grand-children from having to go through them, or at the very least find an avenue to treat them & minimize their effects for our future generations.

The people folding for the bucks are always just going to fold for the bucks,

I came to EVGA because of the bucks, but I've been folding since 2005, & didn't bother to come over to EVGA till 2010.  Even if they do away with the bucks I'll still continue to fold.  Though I'm sure that there are a small percentage of folders out there who are only in it for the bucks

Every little bit can help, & with the focus being almost solely upon GPU folding, there's no need to upgrade your system every couple years to keep up.  Just drop in a new GPU & you're golden.  i.e. GTX 1060 folds better than my 970 FTW, uses less electricity, & at $250 - $300 for a decent one (factory overclocked 6GB version), it's a whole lot cheaper than a new system & can easily make double the current point requirements in about 15-18 days, even on your X58 motherboard.

If I could be sure of getting enough $$$, I would sell off my 970 & get a 1060 for the reduced power requirement alone, but ebay is flooded with 970's & I probably cannot get enough to afford to pick up a 1060

Agree with SM-71

My Old X58 i7-950 MB build

Was - EVGA GTX 980 SC on air PPD 450k - 500k

Now - EVGA 1080 FE on air PPD 800k - 900k ---> less energy, less heat + better PPD

I have tried Folding on an older EVGA 670 FTW - decided it was not worth the energy - do not remember the PPD

I would highly recommend anyone with a X58 MB or newer, update the GPU

It's February... should be hearing a new year announcement (hopefully before 27 days have elapsed).

I agree with the 4/4/4 system, it starts you a little lower but it keeps you working longer into each month to hit each of the tiers.  Based on my current GPU, a GTX 970 FTW+, over the last two months i have consistently hit over 7M points.  Granted I pretty much leave it folding anytime I'm not using the GPU for gaming. I really like the incentives either way and would keep folding regardless.
