Pretty much this. You'll have tons of people posting random spam while trying to not look like spam so they can hit the 100 post count and then they'll fall off the face of the earth after they manage to snag a card. I'm not the most active guy on the forums myself obviously but I've owned a handful of EVGA cards for awhile now.

Just hit 100 posts and was able to become an Elite member so...bring it on I guess. Lol
Still seems like it won't help much if they can't get the website to handle the traffic better.
If it's only elite members able to get to the checkout service, maybe they can 'optimize' it so that elite members won't lag out after they add to cart.

The people in charge likely saw it coming, but didn't put in any real precautions to stop botters. Worse case, EVGA just doesn't care because, no matter who buys the product, they get money. Normal case, EVGA just didn't want to go through the trouble of instituting a strenuous buying process when they weren't sure of the need for it. Best case, EVGA is gonna do it all and has been preparing to have ELITE and phone-order type restrictions coming up, they just took a long time to get there.

I'm not a fan of this one.... One, it makes it more difficult to expand EVGA's user base. And two, the fact that it wasn't announced in advance of the 3090 release means that I wasted time F5ing on the EVGA website when I could have been F5ing pointlessly on some other website.

Look, if i get an email saying I can buy either 3080 FTW3 SKU Elite members only - I'm not gonna be upset about it lmao.
I can only hope if it happens that the website will stay up and not get so sluggish.
Maybe release the Elite cards ALONE, then the non Elite so it's not so much traffic?

I hope they do an elite member stock for the 3080 FTW3 and I hope stock next week is easier to get. Newegg just sold out instantly and ripped the item from my cart as I was redirected back from Paypal. But hey, their site didn't crash this time so that's progress, I think?

What they should do is lower the post count if you have at least one product registration. Like a power supply and 50 post and your in. Options like that would help a lot of us.
This is a great idea! I have a few EVGA products, but not enough that qualify!

This is definitely the way to do it if they do reserve more elite member stock (please). I wasn't able to get a 3090 in the elite member launch because the site was so sluggish. Eventually it went oos after the five millionth error page.

It would be interesting if they did this. I think they are leaning that way b/c yesterday the webpage did toggle the 3080s to elite for a while but they said that was a mistake they were fixing.
