Set up -

X299 Dark mobo
10980XE processor
1200W ROG Thor PSU
MSI triple RTX 3090
64GB Corsair Vengeance ram
bios 1.28

All plugs for PSU power checked on board. PCI and CPU plugged in
Fully watercooled - 50 degree max

running Windows 10 pro

strange issue with build, I have checked the PSU and swapped out. Checked CPU & GPU again swapping with others and it all points now to Mobo issue.

The PC can stay on and play a game like New world for hours also run time spy bench and stress test. Every now and again when starting a game, opening a window / web browser the screen goes, leave it and sometimes freezes or sometimes will reboot. I have checked events and get Kernel-power code 41 (63). is there any way to drill down further to the issue?
Driving me crazy. May go 2 to 3 times on the bounce and then stay on for hours.

There is some slight bend on a pin on the socket - this is me being OCD, its not major but when you glance down from different angles you can see one slightly out. Could this cause an issue like the above when at times its rock solid? I tried to get on a pic but doesnt show.

Any help would be greatly appreciated TIA

I would start by testing memory with MemTest86, if you haven't already. I had bad experience with Corsair on my X299 Dark.

Also, what are your BIOS CPU settings? BIOS memory settings? Have you overclocked GPU?

CPU Pin??? If you can, try another CPU, bent Pin can become problem but you should try to fix it. And kernal power error 41 or 63 are leaning towards to PSU.

    Thanks for the responses

@ ZoranC i will try memtest, swapped out with another pair from another PC I know is good but could be compatibility i suppose? Bios settings are standard no OC or XMP GPU standard also. haven't got that far to push anything

@ Pinktulip Yes bent CPU pin on socket. i have tried with a 10940x and now the 10980XE both same result. I have dealt with worse pins before but i know that doesnt mean anything if its a crucial one. I love the board and this is my second try with it, last time I just swapped it out for an Asus but wanted to give it another try.

The screen goes what? A bent pin isn't good.

@ Sajin; So the PC doesnt blue screen but goes off, then will reboot sometimes and restart and others will just hang but posting no screen.
Event viewer doesnt really give much info.

Guess you’ll need to replace the board, or fix the bent pin to see if that will help correct the problem since you’ve tested with multiple cpu, gpu & psu’s. Definitely check the ram before doing the board swap.

When you say "BIOS settings are standard, no OC" I assume you mean your processor and memory tab use default BIOS settings with auto ratios and auto multipliers, correct?

Way I see it your two candidates are either that memory or that CPU socket pin (I heard some 10980xe owners had challenges with their setups but you said you tried 10940 with same result. Even if your memory passes test I would still give different kit a try because memory incompatibility can be a pain to deal with (I've had good experience with G.Skill). If you end up still having issue then that pin definitely needs looking at. It would be good if you could post a picture of it. Good luck!
