I am in New Zealand. Sent my GPU 980ti to seller, and they informed me RMA has been approved. I am curious what's EVGA's policy on replacing 980ti when there are no stocks? Because I heard 1070 is what usually being sent out but I did purchase my 980ti less than 2yrs ago for $1200NZD. Because I liked "Ti". And if 1070 is sent out I will be frustrated. Thanks

You will usually get the same card back if they have any 980 ti's. IMO, a 1080 would be a proper replacement for a 980 ti if no 980 ti's are available.

According to the warranty terms, you will receive the same card as a replacement or a card of equivalent performance. If you receive a 10 series card, it probably won't end in "Ti". If it does end in "Ti", don't expect it to be a 1080 Ti. That would be a pretty hefty upgrade. Don't expect a $1200 video card to be replaced by a $1200 video card. Equal or greater performance is promised; not equal or greater price.

Sajin IMO, a 1080 would be a proper replacement for a 980 ti if no 980 ti's are available.
Why? A 1070 outperforms a 980ti by a few percent. You'll get a 980ti or a 1070 back most likely.

1070 does not outperform 980ti by few percent. refer to Sajin's. I play League of Legend / Overwatch. My friend owns GTX 1070 and has lower FPS than my 980ti.

Are you representing EVGA? If not please disregard my thread. youtube "watch?v=ZbG-TK1Sh7g" GTX 1070 is an entry level GPU by NVIDIA that's why I upgraded from GTX 970 to GTX 980ti immediately (both from EVGA still have gtx 970 running on my wife's pc) Imagine you have spent $1200+ on a GPU cuz that is a signature class, that I wanted in my gaming rig. And suddenly replaced with an entry level gpu? well even If i get replaced 1070 or 1080, I will immediately sell this to my friend or give to my wife and get a 1080 ti.

I have a 980ti and would gladly trade it for a 1070. 100w less power consumption and a higher overclock potential? Sign me up. A 1070 is no where near an entry level GPU, their entry level card is the 1050.

Sajin The game fps results don't show a 26% difference. Looking at individual reviews definitely would have been better. Just didn't look at them this time. Oops.
Yeah I would be careful relying on sites like that for detailed comparisons; while useful for gauging average performance across many configs, it's misleading for component to component comparisons as there is no control for CPU performance, driver version, RAM speed, etc. Good professional reviews control for these things so you can directly compare components.

a card of equivalent performance.
That seems so subjective to me. Would you use a popular benchmark? (There are dozens of popular benchmarks.) Would you use a specific game? (There are easily thousands of games to use in comparisons.) Would you use specific creative software? (There are dozens of popular titles.) Would you use some scientific application? (There are thousands upon thousands.) Would you use the buyer's custom software? (This is limitless.) It's easy to point to a few benchmarks, but it's really hard (probably impossible) to measure equivalence in any pragmatic way with a standard like "equivalent performance" and nothing else.

Our process isn't actually that subjective. We determine replacements part number by part number, so a reference model will usually have a different replacement card than an SC model, and an SC model will be different than an FTW. In other words, we don't blindly look at the card series and assume all cards are just a notch up. Also, we do not determine replacement products by the original or current MSRP of the original card or replacement card. We operate from the basis of "same part number or performance equivalent", which assumes that we will not downgrade you. In the rare cases of a customer receiving a card that objectively performs worse than the original card (manual overclocking is not taken into account, of course), the customer should contact Customer Service to review the situation. In even rarer cases, a customer's use or needs (e.g. low-profile card replaced with a non-low-profile card) may require a different solution. As you may imagine, some customers believe that we should update cards based on other factors, or may have a different opinion than we do regarding their unique situation. We understand, and sometimes a request for a different card is not unreasonable. If you believe that your replacement card is in error, please contact our Customer Service and discuss it with one of our representatives. I cannot promise you that you will get a different card, but we will be happy to discuss the situation with you.

I'd like to know too or someone who lately has RMA'ed a 980 Ti…. They just got my dead one today.... just 2 weeks outside my warranty but they are still processing an RMA... good on them! So let's see if I get a refurb 980 Ti or a 1070, 1070 Ti or if I hit the RMA lottery a 1080! I've been buying EVGA since the 6800 GT days and this is my actual first RMA with them... so 1 RMA in 14 years.... not too bad of a track record.... here's hoping for a bonus with my clean record with them....

Maybe they will give you GTX1080 as replacement. Because your card is high end and GTX1080 as new generation would be logic replacement if they don't have GTX980Ti.

I believe it has been stated many times that the criteria is "same card if it's in stock, otherwise a card with equivalent or higher performance". So the fact that the 980Ti was "high end" doesn't mean you will get a high-end 10-series or 20-series card. 9/10 benchmarks will show that a 1070 Ti outperforms a 980 Ti (and uses far less power), so I think it's a very reasonable replacement for a 980 Ti.

So I've bought my 980ti SC in 2016 and my GPU developed a fault in Jan/19, I've been going through the RMA process via pcspecialist UK and I really regret not having registered with EVGA earlier as my RMA takes a really long time. Furthermore it got delayed as I moved to Germany and had to RMA to UK. Finally I'm getting a replacement (or repaired) product soon. Got my tracking # yesterday - So excited!- Haven't got any Product ID so its like a mistery box for me anyways it will be a great gift as my birthday is on Friday! Going to tell you guys soon *Crossed fingers!*
