Funny thing that there more thermal pads required for the backplate than the block itself.

Use a toothbrush that you don’t need anymore. It should help break it up and get it out of there.

That and I like to use a little bit of 99% alcohol, breaks it right up. If its really caked on i even just let a little bit of 99% sit in it for a few minutes. Works wonders

In my experience I could barely tell a difference between that and 99% iso alcohol personally. Can't wait for mine, I didn't order til 13th so I'm sure I'm last of the line lol. It said mid-jan when I ordered. Excited, last part of my loop like everyone else.

So EK has a policy to not ship orders until all items for the order are available. If the nickle back plates are indeed what is holding up orders, is EK setting aside blocks for those orders? Or are they just shipping out blocks as fast as possible? It would be completely unfair if my order has been waiting for a back plate, but when the back plates are finally ready, they are then out of stock on the blocks and the waiting process starts all over again. Has anyone been in contact with EK to find out what in fact is going on with that?

Yes, EK will look up your order until everything is in stock and only ship once. I'm in the same boat with a $6 fitting now being out of stock even though the Acetal Block and black backplate were ready to ship. They also did this to me when I placed an order nearly a month before things came in stock. They never shipped my stuff when it became available on the site and then it went out of stock a second time. The order just sat there for a week.

Or someone else's toothbrush. Or a sand blaster.

Just sent an email to EKWB regarding the status my order as I used the Paypal checkout (and yes - I know it's the weekend). Playing around with the timestamp shown on my order as well as Aussie to USA PST, I reckon I was about 2 hours behind your orders. Hopefully not too long as I ordered the black backplate.

I will be so pi$$ed if EKWB turn around and say, "hey we have your nickel back plates in now, but no blocks available until April so you'll have to wait". I will be wild.

It did after using the toothbrush method before like scarlet said. I prefer when pads were used in the past instead.

Yeah, the back plate is anodized aluminum, so it shouldn't be all that heavy.
