Do you guys think MP5works backplate cooler worth it? I would have to run the GPU in reverse flow for parallelism for mp5works due to my water loop design, so it might not be worth it? What do you guys think?

Depending on the GPU block design, running it in reverse flow could be a very bad idea. Not worth possibly sacrificing primary GPU cooling performance for secondary GPU cooling performance - kind of cutting off your nose to spite your face.

I guess I'll have to research on a minipump and mini radiator for the mp5works, or just scrap it all together and add it in later.

I'm thinking of using some adhesive thermal pads to attach a copper heat sink on the back of the card for added passive cooling. Might be another option for you.

Since this block uses an impingement cooling design, this design is clearly designed for a specific flow direction.

This is the way that you should connect it:

ASRock Z77 • Intel Core i7 3770K • EVGA GTX 1080 • Samsung 850 Pro • Seasonic PRIME 600W Titanium
My EVGA Score: 1546 • Zero Associates Points • I don't shill

Yeah I figured this was the case, I have the tube coming in from the right while the GPU is in vertical form so the in being on the left blocks the out port. I'll probably won't use mp5 unless someone convinces me that it's really worth it on these forums.

What do you mean by "it" - the website, or your order? If you mean the website, I would assume that's for new orders...

And EKWB says it doesn’t make much difference:

https://www.ekwb.com/blog...-outlet-port-as-inlet/

Den-Ko,

I would follow EKWB’s guidance and do what best suited for your needs.

Since reverse flow shows a recorded temp difference of 1.5c and an slight increase in flow rate, you will be perfectly fine reversing the flow. The engineers that designed the block say it’s fine, so trust the engineers.

Well that's interesting. A negative impact of 1.5°C running reverse flow isn't a big deal, although that will increase with overclocks and load of course. Still, if it allows that backplate cooler to work for Den-ko, then that may well offset the difference. Only one way to find out!

Pretty jealous but happy for those of you who go shipping notifications.

I originally got an email saying late December which was followed up by another email last week revising the date to mid-January.

Feels bad man

Still in processing stage. I ordered the nickel & plexi block (15th in line) and the nickel back plate (5th in line), did you order the same? Maybe mine is being held up for the back plate or something..

Thanks, so it might be the nickel back plate holding up my order. If Hopper64 and Maytheus went with the same as you, then yeah, that would help confirm it.

When did EKWB say that? Was that for the FTW3 Ultra blocks?
Optimus had issues with their nickel plating partner, but that has since been rectified. Perhaps that is the hold up with the EK nickel back plates?

I hope we never have to live through another pandemic - it was a terrible idea to build a rig.

Between waiting on GPU, GPU bricking, CPU paper release, and all sorts of parts being delayed and/or out of stock; this hasn't been enjoyable lol.

By the time it's finished we'll be onto another generation of peripheries.

I know I know - first world problems.
