I randomly decided to check performance PCs this Sunday during the middle of the day and saw 1 in stock so I ordered it. It already shipped via Fedex and says its arriving this Friday

Congrats! I saw them show up as available after I purchased the optimus block and cancelled the order I had with EK directly. The stuff directly from EK was going to take forever! Kind of regret not being able to get something now and I am sure the optimus block is going to take forever to get here but it is a beast.

Looking great! I did my air leak test last night and now have water flowing for 24 hours on a separate PSU. Just waiting on the GPU block!

Some nice looking builds here! I think mine will be all function and little form as far as aesthetics go lol, just waiting on a new motherboard, CPU and ram to arrive now. ..and some time to do the build.

Just ordered the following so joining "the family" soon (shipment expected for next week):

  • 1 x EKWB EK-Quantum Vector FTW3 RTX 3080/3090 D-RGB - Nickel + Plexi
  • 1 x EKWB EK-Quantum Vector FTW3 RTX 3080/3090 Backplate - Nickel

Coming from a RTX 3090 FTW3 ULTRA HYBRID I really don't know if I'll notice any big improvement over my current, already very good temperatures, but I am looking forward to add a second 420 rad to the loop and for that I have to get rid of the Hybrid's 240 rad...

I'll let you guys know as soon as I receive it...

Got my FTW3 block delivered today.

This will be the second block I install in the span of 4 days.

Let the tear down begin - again!

The right side of the top block isn’t lighting up... not something I am worried about right now, but when I tear the system down to replace the tubing for the CPU, I will work on this block.

Now all you need is a 720hz display 😊

Great looking build btw!

Any coil whine after installation of the EK blocks? I saw some complaints about the EK Strix backplates causing really loud coil whine but not much for the FTW3 ones.

I'm not even sure how a backplate would even cause a gpu to get coil whine.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback.

I'm not even sure how a backplate would even cause a gpu to get coil whine.

It's not the backplate itself but rather the increased mounting pressure by using the backplate. Mounting with both the block and backplate would cause enough of a squeezing pressure to resonate the choke/inductor vibrations throughout the block. Removing the Strix backplate would alleviate the coil whine. It's not a big problem for 3080 users, but 3090 users have memory chips to cool off in the rear.

I'm positive it's not the case for most people, but I've seen very few people comment about it while researching 3080 waterblocks. I'd rather avoid it as my 1080Ti FTW3 had more pronounced coil whine after installing an EKWB on it compared to the stock aircooler. Even went as far as remounting the aircooler to verify the change in coil whine noise levels.

Slightly off topic; the Hydro Copper block for the 2080 FTW3 is available cheap on the EVGA Midweek Madness page - $69.99 (normally $169.99). Great deal if you're looking for one.

@Nereus - when (if) they finally release the 3090 Hydro FTW3 Ultra, is it worth updating the BIOS of a standard FTW3 Ultra using a EK waterblock? (I wonder if this even possible?)

Finally I got my EK waterblock and back plate today and will install it late Friday afternoon into Saturday morning after I wake up since I work 3rd shift. Will let it run 24 hours to test for leaks. It won't be fancy like some of the of the setups here and hard tubing isn't my thing as I will be using soft tubing.

Use soft tubing, nothing wrong with that at all!

I used soft tubing for years before moving to hard tubing, and came very close to going back to soft tubing.. soft tubing is so much easier!

Although it is not great that I had to tear the whole system down, happy to report that the LED’s were indeed unplugged and nothing more :-) very easy fix. System is back online.

Does anyone have a good recommendation for temperature sensor that I could possibly install in the top of the reservoir and just have the probe touch the top of the water?

I imagine they will be using the same bios since it's basically the same card but with different cooling.

Finally got the block installed on the 3090 - did evga use cement on the pcb? That thing was hella stuck to the cooler and once off flaked like dry cement.

Anywho - the deed is done.

The FTW3 block was easier to install than the Strix block - both look great though.

....time to see what these cards can do 😊

Hope everyone waiting gets theirs shortly!

So did you unplug the LED module on the backside of the card before you put on the backplate? Or did you leave it on and glowing? :)

I have a few of these with the intention of checking the temp after the GPU, then after the first 480 radiator and then a final one that is after the second 480 rad and in the reservoir.  Works well so far.  Though to be fair I have some worries that there might be crummy plating after reading the marketing from Optimus..  they got in my head damnit.

When I installed my first block, I forgot to disconnect that led Pad. When I removed the second card to install the block, I disconnected that LED pad, and then quickly pulled the backplate from the first card and disconnected it as well.

You can’t see it when the block and backplate are installed, so it saves like .5w or something small.

I have been running the phobya inline g1/4 temp sensor for about a year. So far so good. Got it plugged into a commander pro and it is what fan speeds are based off of in my rig.

I wish EK made a temp probe so that I could stick to their products, but that is one of the only things they are lacking at this time.

So my block and back-plate are already in the way and they're expected to arrive in 4 days...

I'm a little bit nervous about the dismounting process but I guess that having the Hybrid card version it might be easier than the stock air cooler version...

Also I was wondering, does the block installation void the warranty (supposing that you do it properly and do not break anything)?
