EA Play is Coming to PC for Xbox Game Pass Members Starting Tomorrow | TechPowerUp
 
Since teaming up with Electronic Arts, we've been working to provide Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC members an EA Play membership at no additional cost. We want to thank the PC community for your patience over the past few months as we worked to deliver a better Xbox App experience for EA Play. We're excited to share with you that starting tomorrow, March 18 at 2:00 p.m. PT, Xbox Game Pass PC and Ultimate members will be able to enjoy all the benefits of EA Play on Windows 10.

These benefits include access to more than 60 of EA's biggest and best PC games like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, FIFA 20, Titanfall 2, and Need for Speed Heat, as well as titles from some of EA's most popular franchises like Battlefield, Madden NFL, Command & Conquer, and The Sims. You also receive exclusive in-game challenges and rewards, special member-only content, and discounts on EA digital purchases via the EA Desktop app beta. Xbox Game Pass with EA Play also includes the option to trial games for up to 10 hours from best-loved franchises and top titles like FIFA 21. Finally starting on day one of EA Play on PC with Xbox Game Pass, members can play the new-to-Play List title Star Wars: Squadrons on PC and console.
 
To get started with your EA Play membership on PC, just download the EA Desktop app, EA's next-generation PC platform that's currently in open beta, and sign-in to your EA Account or create a new one. Once you are logged in you will be prompted to link your Xbox account and your EA account. The Xbox app will walk you through the setup process when you download your first EA Play game. After you download the app and connect your accounts, you can browse the EA Play library, look for your next favorite game, and play with friends.

As someone who has Game Pass Ultimate paid (used the Gold to Ultimate conversion for a really good deal) for the next three years, this is good news to me

Totally redundant to Steam implementation of it. Microsoft has already missed the boat.

Wait, Steam has their own version of Game Pass??? Why haven't I heard of this? What's it called?

Not sure how they missed the boat since Xbox Game Pass has been a hit and what this says is at no additional cost they get EA Play adding a bunch of EA titles to what people already get with Xbox Game Pass. Seems like the value of the program just increased a lot.

That confused me as well. I went looking for Valve's implementation of Game Pass that he was talking about and couldn't find anything. Microsoft definitely did not miss the boat with Game Pass. Right now they are the Icebreakers paving the way for future companies to follow their path. I've done a complete 180 with Game Pass after getting 3 months free. After that I went and stock pilled up on cheap Xbox Live Gold cards to get 3 years, and converted that to Game Pass Ultimate for $1 (Promo Microsoft is doing right now). If you get GPU for cheap like I did, there is no better value in gaming at the moment (I play GPU on both my PC and Series X). I won't have to pay for a single Microsoft or ZeniMax (Bethesda, ID) game for the next 3 years and play them on day 1. Plus all the other hundreds of games on it now, and the library just keeps getting better.
 
So Microsoft adding the EA Play service to their Game Pass library on the PC is not totally redundant at all.

As a game pass subscriber for a little more than a year now, I love the service and I've been enjoying a handful of EAPLay games. Great addition tbh

Really it's a great reason to buy a Xbox over a PS5 along with the more powerful hardware. The only thing that really hurts Xbox is last generation Sony did better with exclusives. With Xbox I can play most of the exclusives they have on the PC as well so not really as keen on buying the console since I have a nice computer. 

I feel like game pass is better for people newer to gaming as they probably haven't played all these titles. Def a good value for the price either way.

Any thoughts if I should get some xbox live gold cards and convert them to ultimate even though I don't have a Xbox or a decent rig to run PC games at the moment?

I don't even know when I would get a rig built with the GPU shortage.....

Its by far the beat way. Also, i heard that you can do the conversion another time after the subscription ends

Woah . . . I'll have to check this out. Looks like theres enough content to justify another subscription now? IDK never really used xbox live or ea play.

Sony did say they wanted to bring more of their games to PC. Already seeing this with Horizon, Death Stranding and now Days Gone. Here's hoping they will keep at it and follow Microsofts footsteps.
