If stadia takes off, will consumer hardware evaporate while the industry moves to a data center platform? Imagine needing data center grade hardware to get matched performance. By setting an insanely high standard, Google could edge us out of our own hobby. 🤔

They won't on my end you'd always be limited to their rules their standards and their methods...
Rather useless for overall users if you'd ask me, yet I'd prefer a workstation I can work with game with and host my own games with no need for these paid services while you can do it all yourself with your favored or preferred hardware setups, operating systems etc.
Nah I won't be needed such a limited solution to be honest, also DOOM Eternal looks better on PC that this Google Stadia system, the explosions looked lesser detailed as do structural and object surfaces etc.

It would take years for it to really be viable as a lot of places can’t really stream games. Some people hate even downloading a game because connections are not that reliable nationwide.

I always find it mildly annoying when people think that there'll only be one answer to how things are in the future. The future is never so binary in outcomes. It is only one way of many. You think people will quit buying 600 horsepower cars because someone manufactures electric cars (for example)?

I'd rather play on my own pc with high end hardware.
i'm waiting for the brain chip option.  until then my PC is the my preferred choice too.

This is perfect for me... im always taking care of my son. So to be able to just pick up a controller, log in and play something foe 10 to 15 minutes.... without needing a pc or console is fantastic. Will it keep me from building, upgrading or ruling my pc obsolete....never!!!! I will always prefer pc over anything else, but when there is little time, and few options... this works! I just hope they have like a yearly 4 full game subscription for about $120 a year, with a few free simple games on the side. I can actually see this happening as google tries to get the upper hand on other digital platforms. Also... beats buying a RTX 2080ti.. i could get 15 years worth of yearly subscriptions(if the 120$ yearly is correct).
