About a year ago I oc'ed my 980ti with respectable temps. I monitored them and made sure they came nowhere near unsafe temp. Fast forward a year later and the 2 fans on my card started reviving up to a high rpm, then computer shut off. I turned computer back on and after couple of mins in a game it shut off again. So this time I was going to turn it back on to check out the temps on everything when 2 short burst of flames came out from the heat sink area of the card. I unplugged computer and took gpu out and examined area where flames shot out. I did noticed some burn damage in the area, is small but noticeable. Is this covered under the warranty or no? I read the terms and states "psyhical damage" voids it. Haven't had the card 2 1/2 years yet. Thanks

you should be good  . depends on if they[evga] deems it as end user abuse   for what ever reason  .   [rare ]  , but can happen at times

like here if it was due to a failed part as here you should be good to go

    good deal.

I guess I misstated that   they [evga] can approve the RMA  to allo you to send it in  , but then they get your card and look it all over to decide if its going to be replaced .   once they get there hands on it  and see whats - what   that's when they can deem it as good to go or no way / end user abuse  and decline the replacement  ..
this dept. is where I do feel evga hold a edge over other brands  and less likely they would turn one down  [the damage would have to be pretty blatant abuse for evga to deny ]   I seen from other forums I do   some evga cards from posted pic's guys had that to me I figured no way  evga would accept  , but did  .    one guy here at evga had his turned down due to what he said was water damage ??

    this one ??

Only damage to the GPU is small burn damage on the board. I mean the damage is very small and in my opinion does not show neglect on my part. I did explain the damage in part 1 of RMA process. Thanks again everyone

And you will probably get a BETTER card than what you had.
Meanwhile, us who NEVER oc, get other peoples crud back, a lesser card than what messed up one we sent in.
EVGA policy is so messed up.

Self-inflicted damage cause by the card failing is covered.

If someone damages their card and then it fails - not covered

The used cards are repaired when possible and recycled for future RMAs

there were several posts on something as that here in the past and around  and more like that under the 10 series as well  . looks like one of them things a guy could run in to  . as far as I know evga has been good on satisfaction and replacement   on them issues  .
