Do sleeved aftermarket cables contain capacitors like the ones the PSUs come with?

Hello there!

I'm fairly set on using a G3-series (Edit: or P3-series, if it is released by then) EVGA PSU for my next build. Given that I actually want to make it neat this time around, I've been looking into individually sleeved aftermarket cables as offered by Super Flower or EVGA themselves. These cables, usually found in cable sets, do not seem to have capacitors along the length of the cable like the normal ones. This piqued my curiosity: Are they hidden in the connectors? Are they missing? Is it correct that they only increase ripple suppression at high loads, thus serving no real purpose in a system with 50-60% load on the PSU at all times?

I, a poor chemist with limited knowledge in these matters, would appreciate it if someone could shed some light on that.

Edit2: I'm a dummie and didn't read the stickied thread about these things thoroughly enough. My sincerest apologies for that. Someone else (post 74 in that thread - can't link it directly) already asked support and was answered that question for the most part.

I've used both the official EVGA cables, as well as those from CableMod. I'm pretty sure that there are no capacitors present in either of those sets-- they're only found on the stock cables. Not really sure on the second half of your question, though. Sorry!

from the tests on both TechPowerUp and JonnyGuru, it seems the Super Flower reference design has plenty of capacitors built in the PSU itself to limit ripples :

It also seems official EVGA cables don't feature such capacitors.

The EVGA Individually Sleeved cables do not have inline capacitors. That said we would not expect any reduced performance, that and the gauge of the cables original or the individually sleeved cables will help reduce any resistance/heat build up which can induce ripple.

Normally you can't go wrong with companies like CableMod for aftermarket sleeved cables, they go through alot to ensure that they meet the specs of the PSU they are designing the cables for.

When I asked tech support about removing the cables with the caps in them in favor of sleeved cables....... "removing the caps could exacerbate instability if it was pre-existing however it would not effect the overall functionality of the unit."
For myself, I kept the cables with the caps on, and ordered shorter sleeved extensions. That way I could hide the cap/cables in the back on my DG-87 and just show the coloured sleeved extensions. This way I did not have to debate removing the caps completely or not

As long as your popular enough, you can get away with anything.

CableMod uses the caps in their sleeved cables btw
