As someone who has been very skeptical of this project from the off, I was well pleased with the first look at the upcoming remaster of Diablo II.

It sounds promising, with little change to the gameplay mechanics and the 3D models and lighting looked really good.  The possibility still exists that this could go south a la Warcraft III remaster, but, my concerns have significantly diminished since seeing the stuff they are keeping and what they are changing.

What are your thoughts?

I've signed up for the technical alpha. It would be nice to see the changes of the remaster.

I'd love to see them pull out a great upgrade/ conversion - but their track record is not very good as of late ( past numerous years )..
Then tack on the $39.99 price tag they listed it at  &  it get's more disappointing.

I really have to say that a Diablo 2 ressurrected really appeals to me. But that's also because I played the game a lot back then and have very strong positive memories of it (nostalgia). But if you really think about it, so that a new Diablo2 grabs me just as (or even close to) as the old one, Blizzard has to do a lot better and better. The Warcraft disaster is not the best starting point in this regard. I still remember pretty well how I planned my characters in advance, fhr, fcr, as caps and and. Then the values, how much do I need, how do I achieve them. I want str bug (or more naked feature ^^) This item or this, 0815 this or more in your pocket and take very good rare. Otherwise skill tree; is it still up to date? is he changed? how is it changed? Baalruns nonstop (or dia runs or cow runs / provided they are equivalent) is simply no longer appropriate these days. But in itself I would be really interested in reliving my young experiences with Diablo2. Just in a better, more modern form. Java in pve or in PvP just show a barbarian how fast he dies (if he doesn't do absorb abuse) or a nice bowazon 7fps GA, 2nd slot 400% phoenix with rare gleves ...... ok, I'll stop now otherwise the nostalgia still devours me completely!
