Rumour has it that AMD has more Zen 2 goodies in store for the low-end market. Recent leaks suggest that a new Ryzen 5 3500 processor is on the horizon, igniting hopes for a new budget gaming champion in the £150-ish price bracket. This leak comes via TUM_APISAK over on Twitter, a leaker with an incredible track record for soon to be released products. The Ryzen 5 3500 is listed as a 6-core, 6-thread processor with a base clock speed of 3.6GHz and a boost clock speed of 4.1GHz. This would make the 3500 the first Ryzen 3rd Generation processor to lack support for SMT (Simultaneous Multi-Threading).

Given today's pricing for the 6-core, 12-thread Ryzen 5 3600 (£189.99), our guess is that AMD's Ryzen 5 3500 would ship for around £150-160, making it an ideal candidate for low-budget gaming PCs. This will be especially true if the chip overclocks well. What must be mentioned is that even if the Ryzen 5 3500 exists, it could, potentially, release as an OEM only SKU. This would mean that it would only be available to PC builders like Dell, HP and ASUS.

If these rumours of a Ryzen 5 3500 are true, AMD has the potential to cause a major shake-up of the low-end PC market, as Intel's sub-£170 Coffee Lake offerings are currently made up of quad-core i3 processors. Once again, AMD could offer PC builders more cores for their money.

Looks like AMD is counter-attacking Coffee Lake with more cores and a lower price if this info is true.

The rumors says its going to be a 8 core though, not a 6 core.
Probably a lower clock variation of the 3700X, entirely possible to do thanks to AMD's chiplets approach.
