Made it all the way to 43 before needing glasses! I’ve had my current pare since October, I have Transitions, Progressives(no line readers), and non-glare.
I’m not sure if it’s the non-glare or Transitions that’s causing the inside reflections or the non-glare screwing with my light shading(depth and light reflections). I’ve done well with amber colored shooting glasses but never wore amber or yellow lens for my daily glasses.
I’m about to get my a new pair in January, will be my new daily glasses, and need feedback about lenses and what works for y’all, I do better with reflective vs direct light. I’m on and off a computer screen all day, reading a lot through out my job and go from distance to reading a lot lot.
Thoughts, Knight

I only recently started needing them. But when I put them on.... its like when you stream netflix first and it looks like poop, and high def finally kicks in. Its wonderful. I just don't want to become dependent on them. I feel if I do it, it doesn't work any muscles in my eyes and they become weaker. But that's just my personal theory.

I have multi-focal lenses and no coatings but my next pair might have a coating made specifically for computer use.

I’m seriously thinking of not doing any kind of treatments this time. Just go with a high quality lens and call it good.

I had been using reading/cheater glasses for years. I finally gave in and finally got my eyes tested for real glasses. Now have a pair of bi-focals. Definitely took some getting used to but it's so nice to be able to (mostly) see properly again. Didn't get too fancy with the glass. The seamless bifocals added a bit to the overall price. I will add the UV film for computer use on the next pair.

I would go normal for your first pair of glasses and if insurance allows get a pair next year that has a treatment for looking at the computer screen. You could do sunglass treatment on your first pair. I personally think it's best to have ones for outdoor and ones for inside.

I've always had real glass lenses but tried some plastic Transitions lined bifocals from Costco to save some money. Even though I was very careful with them in less than a year they were covered with small scratches. Went back to glass Photo-gray, lined bifocals. They're more expensive than plastic and not a lot of labs make them anymore but they are a lot more durable. I have decent mid-range vision so I can watch TV and use my computer without my glasses. An older guy I bowl with recently had cataract surgery and they put in Bifocal lens so he no longer has to wear glasses. I told my eye doctor let's do mine but he said my cataracts aren't nearly bad enough yet for surgery. So maybe if I live long enough I won't have to wear glasses anymore.

I go this week to buy new sunglasses. Ray Ban Justin Classic - Polarized, Black Frame and Grey Lens. Now will arrive winter soon and I buy Sunglasses and make watercooling, everything opposite.

I'm 50. Two years ago, a local eye surgeon locally told me that it's much easier to do cataract surgery before they "ripen" as the lenses get hard and they literally have to break them into pieces to get them out. He said (in a hint hint, nudge nudge, you know what I mean? kind of way) that if I complained of night glare off street lights that insurance would pay earlier and recovery would be easier if done earlier rather than later. I told that to my regular ophthalmologist and he said that while the other doctor was a fine and talented surgeon, he tended to think with his wallet in mind rather than the patient. Apparently there have been advances in replacement lenses for cataract treatment and the resulting vision is better than it used to be. I read that they are working on flexible lenses that the eye can focus like the originals, but they aren't quite there just yet. Complications are low, you only have one set of eyeballs to play with. You're one infection away from complete blindness which is partly why they only do one at a time. Back on topic, I tried the no line bifocals, but it seemed like I was always hunting around for the correct focal point. I went back to old school lined bifocals, but got the "executive" version which is a wider cut than normal. I usually get plastic lenses with the scratch resistant coating. I asked about a no-fog coating, but I could only choose one. No multi-layer. The lady doing the fitting last time told me that there was a 6 month warranty (IIRC) on the coatings and to just bring them in and get them replaced.
