https://www.techpowerup.com/259921/doom-eternal-delayed-to-march-2020 In heartbreaking news to slayers prepping for the hotly anticipated addition to the franchise, DOOM Eternal, id Software announced that the game's release has been delayed to the 20th of March, 2020, from its earlier 22nd November 2019 release. In its announcement, id Software put quality-assurance as the main reason behind the delay. The developer assured gamers that the game will be worth the additional 5 months of wait. id also announced a few updates, namely Invasion Mode, a gameplay mode that allows you to "invade" another player's game as a playable demon, a Nintendo Switch version that follows the other platforms, and the availability of DOOM 64 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Disappointing news but I'd rather they wait to release a quality product than rush release a poor one.

Perhaps just a calculated move, many games coming out in November. I don't believe QA reasons at all.

Missing critical holiday buyers isn't good .... might as well delay it until school lets out in 2020 ~ early June

It doesn't matter how many games come out in November as long as it's as good as the last DOOM game. To delay for that reason makes it sound like they are scared people wouldn't like it and would get trashed by reviewers who just reviewed better games then it. If it was QA then I fully support the delay nobody wants a game they have to wait for a patch to hopefully fix the issues with it. One thing I am kind of kicking around in my head would be the possibility of it being tied to a product launch. CPU's and GPU's often times have bundled games and DOOM Eternal would be a very good way for Intel for example to enter the GPU market. Of course that would mean talking them into missing the holiday console sales which seems unlikely. If it was delayed for a bundle I would think we would just hear it's delayed on PC like we saw them say it was for Switch.
