So, after looking at my nvme drive (corsair mp500) i was thinking man this thing is a little thinner than a ram stick by the time i add thermal pads it should be very close to the thickness as a stick of ram. I noticed i had an old stick of ram which was collecting dust so i decided to barrow the heatsink off of it. Total time for install for me was about 30min. Tools dremel with cutting wheel, file tool, thermal pads, alcohol, and some q tips!

my nvme drive.

1. removed heatink by pulling the 2 chrome clamps off, then removed and cleaned the inside of the heatsink with alcohol and q tips.

2. I took the nvme and put the heatsink against it to get a good dimensions to ensure everything was covered right! Then i marked it on the heatsink and i cut along the ridge line at the bottom then cut to straight line across the heat sink! As shown in this pic i cut along the white lines with a dremel (cutting wheel).

3. After i finished cutting i then used a file to smooth the edges etc. and re-cleaned to apply thermal pads.
4. Apply thermal pads and cut them a little less than flush all the way around!
5. Remove stickers etc from nvme drive and clean with alcohol etc. (As a caution be sure its working well may or will void warranty!)
6. Now last step install ram heatsink and re-insert the 2 chrome clamps and reinstall. Very easy mod! My temps went from 54c to 46c by doing this and in my situation it didnt cost me anything but a little bit of time here is some pics!

Finished product!

It would be really cool you just post your images and not post your hole desktop.
Did you use any Thermal Pads or Thermal Past?

Looks good but is there a benefit? Have you monitored lower temperatures?

Sorry no, the images is all I saw, thanks I have read it now.
Keep posting your desktop sized based images do not cropped them for me so do not waste your time doing so as they are also images only being shown in a slideshow on your desktop so their really is nothing to crop.
Congratulations on your Blue Ribbon as well.

wow thats still pretty warm, i have a samsung 960 which are known for running hot and it sits under my gpu and normal temp is 29~32c while sustained load has never gone over 46c. if that is a single sided m.2 card then you can get the aquacomputer kryos m.2 micro, i have that on my intel m.2 and it stays at 27~30c no matter the load.

This is a great mod. I would also like to see motherboard manufacturers apply cooling air to m.2 slots.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Agreed on warmth but hey it was running 54c ill take -8c on passive air cooling all day long tho! Also i found out that the corsair tool readings may not be very accurate! Either way it was still a performance gain of 8c! The corsair mp500 imo isnt very good but u get what u pay for! I paid 84 dollars for an nvme drive that has no official driver or tool that works with it from corsair. Had i done my research before i bought it i would have picked the Samsung. I merely picked it cause of price. This is my ignorance so now im stuck with it. If i could go back i would have paid more and got the samsung. In the end it work great as an os boot drive.

I know lol!! I loved those redline mushkins too those are old ddr3 240 pin from my i7 1366 socket days! She went bad with the current settings i had and the mobo was having a hissy fit. She was throwing red flags all over the place on memtest too. I figured now i could at least put the heatsink to some use! That ram lasted me 6 yrs with some insane settings! I had them underclocked from 2000k 999-24 to 1600 666-14 stable 24/7 stable! Took me like 2 weeks getting the oc on the cpu and ram stable on prime 95 with voltages etc!
