I've recently purchased a DG-87 case and I've been very pleased with it.  However there is one thing that is bothering me.  The front facing power button is constantly flashing blue.  I've looked through the manual and haven't noticed anything involving this.  Is this a message flash or just there for looks?  If it is for looks is there a way to disable it?

by front i am assuming you are talking about the power button below the display window. mine doesn't flash nor is it blue, its a constant white. though i am also not certain if i plugged in my hdd light along with the power/reset buttons, i typically dont as i can not stand that flashing light.

It is a HDD activity light.
Its white led that turns blue on HDD activity.
It is bright as hell !

So its not a warning or message flash.

Lights like that can be annoying at night if you leave the system on to download games etc. I put tape over my Corsair 450D power light due to the flashing in stand by mode at night.

Yes - I have the same -and there is something about the BLUE light at night and even my Cable modem lights are bright blue.
BUT a black marker pen will dim it and can rub off later if you change your mind.
Also plastic color film works but avoid white out.

I wonder how many people plug in the HDD light header backwards and never notice.

Just an FYI.  I don't think it is an HDD indicator.  It is always flashing at exactly the same interval which also means is never stops.  At some point the HDD is at rest and the light would stop if it was associated with the HDD.  This one just flashes constantly and never stops unless the computer is powered off.

I would try disconnecting it and see if it still flashes

The os is constantly accessing something on the hdd.
Just look at processes when its idle, and look at the activity.
when it seems like the interval is the same.. its the same apps/programs accessing it at the same intervals.. Antivirus, hardware monitors, cam software... something.

This would be the case if they actually sped up when you were doing things on the PC.  The light constantly flashes at exactly the same pace.  There is NEVER a change.  So unless this is the worlds most useless HDD indicator then that is not what it is.  I have 3 PC's in the room, the other two system's indicators will frequently go dormant for a few seconds.  This light flashes about every 3/4 of a second always at the same rate no matter what is happening with the system unless it is turned off.

Perhaps it is hooked up incorrectly. Mine would flash at the same intervals when i wasnt using it, but was powered on.
