My Z270 motherboard has a USB 3.1 type C header, but I don't see the USB 3.1 cable anywhere in the case. I'm thinking both USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 type-C is using the same USB 3.0 cable maybe. BUT wouldn't this affect the USB 3.1 type-C data rate? Like, I wouldn't get full true USB 3.1 type-C speed?

USB C is the connector type, USB 3.0/3.1 is the signalling going over the cable. So no such thing really as a 3.1 cable or a 3.0 cable, type C can support either one on the same cable.

I called EVGA on this very question the other night. I have a DG-87 case and I have yet to find the 3.1 tie in cable that should be next to my HDMI cable on the back of the case, like you I thought that the 3.0 would work as well no dice though there should be a cable somewhere in the case that ties into the 3.1 on the back of your motherboard I am guessing though.

But the data speed is not. USB 3.0 / 3.1 Gen 2 is 10Gbps, USB 3.0 / 3.1 Gen 1 is 5Gbps. Not all USB 3.1 are 10Gbps I'm discovering. WHO ENGINEERED THAT?! And USB-C is just a port, like USB Type A or B ports. I foolishly thought this case was going to support 10Gbps since it said USB 3.1. I'm wondering if there is a way to wire JUST that port to a separate USB cable that I could plug into the back of my motherboard to get 10Gbps speed out of it?
