Customer came in my shop and said he wasnt getting any video after he installed a new chip, I asked him what he had for a board and chip he told me he had a z170 board and a ryzen 5 chip which made no sense. I pulled the heatsink off and it was intel chip not a Ryzen. He also told me the first chip he had was broken so he bought the same exact chip that was broken. I checked out the chip and it was a Intel i5-10400 1200 chip socket he was trying to install in a 1151 socket board,no remember he said he bought the same chip of the one that was broken which he is now out $300 and needs to buy another chip for that board. It looks like he didnt damage the pins as far as I can tell, you have to put a lot of pressure on the lever to cause that kind of damage.
 

It can't be the same chip as what he had that was working before. Sounds like the guy has no idea what he is doing and figures everything just fits together regardless of brand.

I bought a 1200 board going to bend the corners back and see if it boots.

the other chip was the same has the new one he bought told to me by his father.

the pins in the 1151 socket looked to be okay, he bought a 6700k chip and I walked him threw how to install it and not have his father do it.

now he tells me that the pc was running fine before and the chip he was using died, so they bought the wrong chip for the z170 board.

Just keep charging for your services. At this point the customer is not asking the right question

he hasnt been back since he picked up his pc.
