Anyone else have this keyboard with an EVGA Classified mobo? The keyboard just launched 3 days ago. Anyways, I am unable to get into the bios when the system boots, and when the computer sleeps the keyboard won't "wake" the system up. I just got this setup, so maybe I am missing something here. My other keyboard works fine as its old and generic, it works in the bios and wakes the PC up without a hitch. Any ideas?

If the new RGB is like my older K70, there's a BIOS switch on the back of the keyboard. Try switching to one of the other BIOSes on the keyboard and see if that helps.

Not a problem. Let us know how it goes, and if none of those other polling rates help I'll pass it on to the PM team to see if they can replicate the problem.

Re: Corsair RGB K70 keyboard issues 2014/09/11 21:32:29 (permalink)
I've just received my Corsair K70 RGB.  I've noticed the same issue as well.  Although it's not a repeated issue for me.  I have rather weird issues ever since I installed the keyboard.  Either I can't get in the BIOS, I freeze at the black screen transitioning from the BIOS to Windows 8.1 and/or I no longer have my 2 second uber boot times.  It can be an isolated incident as I described or a mixture of all/some of the aforementioned.  For the most part, I've just the keyboard in a BIOS setting only.  I'm sure EVGA and Corsair will dig something out and distribute to the masses.  The Corsair forums has began to jot down several issues associated with the keyboard.  I've not taken the liberty to thoroughly scour their forums and merely skimmed through it.  We do have new tech in out hands and while it may function to a certain degree.  There are bound to be issues found here and there. Also is your keyboard giving you keystroke input lag as well?

From my experience, I seem to be typing at a fairly decent speed only to look up at the screen and see it trying to catch up a la Apple IIe's Appleworks.  The lag isn't extremely bad, but the results after hitting a key seem to be about .3-.5 a second for the delay.  Different applications yielded different results from what I've found on my own.  Firefox's address bar don't seem to be affected.  Unsure if the same can be said about other web browsers.  Putting the keyboard in the default BIOS setting is pretty funny because the key light up with every stroke and seems to be the most functional/compatible.  My understanding is the BIOS profile is the legacy profile.  I'm curious to see if Windows 7/Vista users have this issue.  Here's hoping I don't have a seizure from all the flashing lights.

    TL;DR

    - Issues on start up; (Longer boot cycle, can't get into BIOS, lock-up during start-up, etc.)
      - May need to change the keyboards settings (profile switch) to allow proper boot up cycles
    -Keystroke input delay
      - Different applications yield variances in delay input

Corsair is already coming out with a different SKU for K70 RGB.  Maybe that has something to do with this and other issues people are reporting.

There is another SKU for this keyboard already?  Wow.  I sincerely hope Corsair didn't mess up this RGB model release just due to the issues people are having.  So much promise and in spite of the lukewarm reception by the community I really hope this current version is salvageable.  I'd feel pretty offended if they dump this 1.0 RGB model like Sega did their Saturn during the mid 90s.

The new SKU just seems to be a brand name change from Corsair Vengeance to Corsair Gaming, that's all.

That is all we know about. Corsair not going to come out and say "our first batch of our $170 K70 RGB keyboard has a issue/design flaw". The Silver/Blue K70 had all kinds of issues with dead LED's. Corsair ended up discontinuing that product over all the dead LED's.

Some people are reporting K70 RGB software is causing lag in select games. I knew it was a good idea to hold of buying this keyboard until they get all the bugs worked out.

If anyone does end up requesting a RMA for K70 RGB keyboard, push for a prepaid shipping label and you should receive it from Corsair. They want you to be happy with the purchase.

I hadn't realized I had a slip of the tongue in my previous post.  Forgive my foolishness.  New SKU is a name change?  Hmmm.  Sounds fishy, but guess time will tell.  Either way, good information for community.

I am sure they will come out with some firmware updates, and maybe re-design their software interface for the keyboard.

-Bios works when I change the switch on the top of the keyboard. However it doesn't always work as vanity59 has suggested.
-I don't experience any lag while typing either.
-My mobo is completely stock. I have not changed anything from auto yet. I like to run things for a good week just to make sure I don't have any bad hardware out of the gate.
I will probably start OC'ing a bit sometime this weekend.

-Vanity59 what USB ports are you using? I am using the 2 on the very top of my I/O panel. I am avoiding the use of USB 3.0 ports. The instructions for the keyboard stated to use USB 2.0 ports. I have noticed on many other USB devices that sometimes USB 2.0 devices don't play nice on USB 3.0 ports.

I am currently using the 3.0 outputs.  I'll switch it over to the 2.0 outputs and see how it fares.  I too am running my system in stock settings.  My only minor quip that I've found out after upgrading to Win 8.1 is my CTRL key is bound to something.  I can't trigger a CTRL + 1, 2, 3... = on the number line above the letter keys.  I've used other keyboards I have lying around and same issue.  Not sure why or even where to look regarding this funny keybind/modifier.  Any ideas of what may have triggered this anomaly?  Maybe I'll just dump 8.1 for now and go back to Win 7 Ult.  Didn't have any issues there whatsoever.

I was just going to say, sounds like a Windows 8 issue. I'd toss that OS like a bad habit and go running back to Windows 7. I haven't looked into it much, but Windows 9 Beta should be released in less than a year... I think Microsoft has finally realized Windows 8.1 was a flop. When the business world doesn't approve of it, you know it sucks.

I am using Win 8.1 Pro because it was on sale at a local Office Depot here for 80 bucks for the full version.  80 bucks can't be beat and what I have noticed is their is no legacy support for Win XP programs.  I may dump the OS and stick it on a relegated machine that is mainly being used as a mass media/storage center.

I noticed If I change the "FIXED BOOT ORDER Priorities" to "UEFI" versus legacy my system boot loops into the bios. At first I thought it was working, as I was pushing "DEL" and it was enter bios. I later wanted to go to windows, and well I realized this was a BIOS boot loop regardless if I was hitting the "DEL" key or not. At this point I can't get this Keyboard to enter BIOS. I have a second keyboard hooked up to get into it for now.

Was this issue resolved Corndogg18? I just got the K70 rgb and upon boot up my computer makes a different beeping sound than before, acts like its not going to boot up but ends up working with no issues.

I thought about K70 as my future keyboard because he is optimize to work with different motherboard I think better than other keyboards because that switch on keybord. Except that she have one big advantage compare to all other keyboards and that's flat surface and much easier to clean dust.
Than I saw Deck Hassium Pro and Cherry MX Board 6.0.
Deck Hassium Pro look as something more durable and closer to me, US layout only have PBT switches but that's not problem for me my G510 is US layout. Hassium Pro is for me because fonts, classic look, white LEDs.

When I saw all of you with X99 Classified I thought maybe I made mistake with mobo.
    But that's not irreparable.

I had the same issue not being able to get into the BIOS with my K95 RGB keyboard.  I found out that you need to hit the switch on the back side of the keyboard to the lowest Polling rate.  You need to switch it before you power up to get into the BIOS and than move it back to the highest polling rate once you're done before you power up again.

Was this issue resolved Corndogg18? I just got the K70 rgb and upon boot up my computer makes a different beeping sound than before, acts like its not going to boot up but ends up working with no issues.

Like others have mentioned if you slide the switch on the backside of the keyboard to the left (assuming you are sitting in front of it as you would with normal use), then it appears to work just fine in the BIOS. However, sometimes I have issues and it won't work, at that point I turn the power off to my rig and unplug the keyboard, turn the power back on to the tower, let it post for about 10 seconds, turn it off plug the keyboard back in, all while leaving the keyboard switch in the left most position and it begins to work as it should. Now that I have my rigged tuned I am not in the BIOS much.

I like the keyboard because of the RGB lighting. I use my computer in the dark a lot and I love how you can change each key to whatever color you want. I am not big on the mechanical features of the board, or all the damn noise it makes(I have purchased noise dampening rings, still noisy). I hope that helps you out, I guess to be a little more clear, it seems to work just fine in windows and any games I have used it with.

I love my Cherry MX Red K95 RGB and the M65 RGB as well.  Great profiles to choose from or creating your own.  I will say on the noise issues, I have MX Cherry which is between the loudest and lowest noise of mechanical keyboards.k  I don't mind the sound that it makes as I actually love it.  Can't recall which is the lowest noise making though.

Issues like this means that a BIOs adjustment will be needed as I have problems with my Corsair STRAFE on the X99 Micro2. It is my understanding that EVGA will soon have this keyboard for testing. I had a similar issue with the Corsair K65 on the X79 motherboards and that also required a BIOs fix. Once the issue is fixed for the X99 Micro 2 a similar fix is probably needed for other EVGA X99 motherboard.

I believe EVGA is presently investigating this and are they are trying to see if a fix can be made.
