John deserves his share of the credit too for an enormous amount of time and effort getting this version to run smoothly, reliably, and ready for beta testing. We have all been working on this and testing different builds for several months now.
During our testing, we've also been able to perform some benchmarking between Windows -> Linux and OpenCL -> CUDA. While a ~20-25% performance boost is fairly common for Linux when compared to Windows, there's a very big boost when comparing OpenCL on WIndows to CUDA on Linux. You can see this in the time per frame (TPF) for specific projects. For example, on COVID Moonshot free energy calculation projects:
p13426 at 10% in Windows 10 on GTX 1080 Ti running OpenCL: TPF of 1:57 p13426 at 10% in Windows 10 on GTX 1080 Ti running CUDA: TPF of 1:16 p13426 at 10% in Debian on GTX 1080 Ti running OpenCL: TPF of 1:34 p13426 at 10% in Debian on GTX 1080 Ti running CUDA: TPF of 0:59
So if Windows-OpenCL is our baseline, then on this project, the speed improvements are: Windows-CUDA: +53% Debian-OpenCL: +24% Debian-CUDA: +98% CUDA average: +75%
The core will attempt to use CUDA when available. This translates into a very significant gain in PPD, as Adam Beberg found for another project across different Nvidia hardware in Linux:
TPF 73s - GTX 1080Ti running OpenCL/ 1.554 M PPD TPF 57s - GTX 1080Ti running CUDA / 2.253 M PPD TPF 49s - RTX 2080Ti running OpenCL/ 2.826 M PPD TPF 39s - RTX 2080Ti running CUDA / 3.981 M PPD TPF 36s - RTX 3080 running OpenCL / 4.489 M PPD TPF 31s - RTX 3080 running CUDA / 5.618 M PPD
Finally, I'd like to highlight that core22 v0.0.13 currently seems incompatible with the pocl-opencl-icd package in Ubuntu, which is depend on libpocl2. These package is not necessary to run F@h, but if you have them installed, please remove them before running the core. Other than that, if the core segfaults at startup or fails to start or run in any way, please post below!

Thanks for the info, now if I can just find where those 3080's are hiding!

Very interesting, I was getting between 10-12million PPD with CL core, will see what happens with Cuda core. But right now my FTW-3 2080 TI is doing 6mill PPD. I will let you know what the 2060 Super thinks of the new core when it gets some work. I had quit getting beta cores a couple of days ago and went back to regular folding. But in the last 1/2 hour have switched all 4 cards to beta again.

Update: Starting to test full size work units on Cuda. This is currently doing over over 500,000 credit work units on 2080TI in my hot box. My 2060 in the hot box is getting 415,000 credit on these work units. So PPD for 2080TI with these in the hot box is 4.3 million and 2060 2.3 million. My hot box is a smaller case that I put my older weaker cards in since it runs hotter. 2080TI and 2060 Super in there are both FE editions. "Heads up that we've just moved the longer 1343x projects to BETA and enabled them for core22 0.0.13 so that we can test full-length projects to make sure failure rates are within expected margins."

Good to finally see the 3080 numbers for folding. Figured that they would be pretty good but always wonder since gaming performance and folding are different.

Actually my FTW3 2080TI normally gets 3.5 million PPD per day, now folding with Cuda I am getting 5 million PPD.

Officially the ppd on the Cuda cores are not real and may be adjusted on final release.

Well that depends on each work unit, but the Cuda will perform better than the OpenCL. They always adjust points if they are off.

Currently doing 3.7m ppd on a 2060ko (Linux) and a 1070ti (Win10). Up 1.1 mil over normal OpenCL.

So far so good. Seeing around 1.7 million PPD on my 1080 under Linux. No errors after 12 work units.

Finally got around to changing the flag on my folding machine. It is normally a headless wonder that I just let it rip and I don’t have it setup to remotely monitor. My 2080ti is running around 5 million PPD on these beta WU

I've noticed a few extra projects using the cuda Core22 variant. It certainly feels quite a bit warmer in the computer room when all the systems get cuda workloads. I have noticed that cuda workloads can have 5 million steps and take quite a while to process.

Got my 2080S in today(and in line for step up). First unit it pulled was a CUDA beta unit. Getting better PPD on it than the partner 2080ti on an openCL unit. New units are working nice!

Wow, that's awsome score! Is there any good guide that you can point me to how to set up the FAH on Linux? I also have 2060ko and making only 1.8ppd with i5-2500k. I am thinking about switching to Linux but got no skills in this department. Thanks
